Philadelphia before being designated for assignment<br />

on Aug 1.<br />

2011 Hit .227 (50-for-220) with 4 HR and 21 RBI in<br />

85 games for the Giants…was on the DL from<br />

May 26–July 8 with a left groin strain…played 10<br />

rehab games with Triple-A Fresno.<br />

2010 Began the year with the Cubs and hit .284<br />

(48-for-169) before being traded to the eventual<br />

World Champion Giants on Aug 11 in exchange for<br />

minor league OF Evan Crawford…the Cubs were<br />

playing at SF at the time, so Fontenot simply<br />

switched locker rooms to join his new team…went<br />

a <strong>com</strong>bined 3-for-14 in the NLDS (vs. Atlanta) and<br />

NLCS (vs. Philadelphia) and was on the 25-man<br />

roster for the World Series when the Giants broke<br />

vs. RHP but just .212 (11-for-52) vs. LHP.<br />

2005 Acquired by the Cubs from the Orioles on<br />

Feb 2 along with RH Dave Crouthers and OF Jerry<br />

Hairston Jr. in exchange for OF Sammy Sosa…<br />

opened the season with Iowa but made his major<br />

league debut on April 13 vs. SD as a pinch-runner…<br />
