Packed Bed Systems

UPCORE and AMBERPACK Packed Bed Systems
With DOW Packed Bed Systems we offer you one of the
best solutions instead of a compromise. DOW Packed Bed
Systems are characterized by:
1. Counterfl ow technology
2. Compact system lay-out
3. Low investment costs
4. Cost effective operation
5. Low rinse water requirement
6. Effective handling of suspended solids
7. Reliable and high operational availability
AMBERPACK Packed Bed System
The AMBERPACK System is an upfl ow service and downfl ow
regenerated technology. It can be designed as single, double
and triple compartment lay-out. The two and three compartment
vessels can accommodate weak and strong electrolyte
resin combinations resulting in high effi ciency systems. The
resin bed is packed between a lower and an upper nozzle plate.
SAC SBA
Single Compartment
Our packed bed systems come with a complete
engineering package, including manual, calculation tool,
resin analysis service and availability of regional expertise
on ion exchange resin technology to support you with design
and resin selection for your project.
DOW Packed Bed Systems are ideally suitable to
demineralize and soften a large range of different feed
waters up to the most stringent quality demands. Worldwide
thousands of UPCORE and AMBERPACK Systems are
in operation, with fl ow rates from 5 to more than 500 m3 /h
per line.
The AMBERPACK System is ideally suited to use AMBERJET
Uniform Particle Size Resins. These resins maximize the system
performance and bring you the ultimate treated water quality.
Other special resin grades are also available with high capacity
and low pressure drop.
DOWEX UPCORE SYSTEM
The DOWEX UPCORE system is a high effi ciency upfl ow
regenerated and downfl ow service system. The resin bed is
packed between an upper and lower nozzle plate. Besides
a single, double and triple compartment vessel lay-out, the
UPCORE System can be designed with a layered bed anion.
A layered bed offers an option to minimize the system
investment costs by accommodating weak and strong
functional resins in only one vessel compartment.
UPCORE SYSTEMS
SAC SBA
Single Compartment
Because the service cycle operates downfl ow, the system
is not sensitive to any variation in feed water fl ow and is
capable of handling start, stop situations during production
without quality upset or additional chemical consumption.
The UPCORE System gives you maximum fl exibility during
production without compromising effi ciency.
Unlike any other ion exchange packed bed system, the
UPCORE System brings you a solution to suspended solids
handling. The UPCORE System is the only packed bed system
with a self cleaning ability. As particulates accumulate at
the top layer of the resin bed, they are swept out during the
fi rst step of the upfl ow regeneration. The two compartment
vessels can be backwashed without additional regeneration
requirements. Both features maximize the systems availability
and enhance effi ciency.
