MDU SOLUTION

For medium (typically 4-10 floors) and large (typically more than 10 floors) indoor
deployments, the ASCEND Indoor MDU Solution offers:
• Quick connection of riser segments and drop cables in medium- and large-sized MDUs using single-fiber connectivity
• Extremely low space requirements in the riser area due to innovative small-size central riser concept (OptiRise )
• A full plug-and-play approach inside the MDU
• Use of standard installation technique requiring no specialized training
• Various options for end customer drop cables allow for the selection of the most effective installation method
• High level of preconnectorization leverages lower-skilled installers and yields a lower-cost deployment
• Option to defer material and labor cost until service is required by end customer
• Includes multiple easily accessible network test points for network commissioning and quality control
• Easy troubleshooting and replacement
ASCEND INDOOR MDU SOLUTION

Corning Cable Systems’ ASCEND Indoor MDU Solution offers an innovative way to reduce the overall deployment cost and
increase the deployment speed in medium- and large-sized multidwelling units (MDUs).
The heart of the system consists of a plug-and-play riser cable (B), which utilizes standard SC or LC connectivity on the
individual floor level and the basement level. Pre-fabricated breakout points on the floor level are terminated into standard
single-fiber connectors. During installation of the riser cable assembly, those connectors are protected for the pull-in cycle.
Once the floor level is reached, the protection is simply removed and the floor breakouts are connected to the floor distribution
terminal (C). An end customer requiring service is quickly connected by a drop cable pigtail (D) which is plugged inside the floor
terminal, routed to the end customer and terminated by a field-installable connector inside the customer wall outlet (E).
The final connection to the CPE/ONT is done from this outlet by a patch cord connection (F) using ClearCurve ® fiber-enabled
designs. The ASCEND Indoor Solution does not require any use of splicing skills or equipment inside the MDU.
