What we will need if you make a claim<br />
• Medical evidence from the doctor treating you to confirm the illness or<br />
injury and treatment given, including the dates you were admitted to and<br />
discharged from hospital, if this applies.<br />
• A medical certificate if you cannot go on any pre-booked excursions because<br />
of illness or injury.<br />
• Original receipts and accounts for all medical treatment and other expenses<br />
you have paid or have agreed to pay.<br />
• General information set out in the ‘Making a claim’ section on page 10.<br />
Section 2 - Cancelling or cutting short your trip<br />
Cover only applies when shown on your policy confirmation e-mail<br />
If you think you may have to come home early, you must contact us<br />

Meaning of words in section 2<br />
Redundancy / redundant<br />
Loss of permanent paid employment (except in cases of voluntary redundancy,<br />
dismissal or expiry of a fixed term contract).<br />
What you are covered for<br />
We will pay up to the limit shown under ‘core benefits’ within the summary of<br />
cover (if you have flexed the benefits, your latest policy confirmation e-mail will<br />
show the limits that apply) if you have no choice but to cancel or cut short your<br />
trip.<br />
Cancellation<br />
Costs of unused transport and accommodation because you have to cancel for<br />
reasons not known at the time you booked your trip.<br />
Curtailment<br />
Your part of the costs of unused transport and accommodation because you<br />
have to curtail for reasons not known at the time you began your trip.<br />

What you are not covered for<br />
Under Cancellation and Cutting short your trip<br />
• Any condition set out under ‘Health declaration and health declaration’ on<br />
page 6.<br />
• The policy excess of the amount shown on your latest policy confirmation<br />
e-mail.<br />
• Anything caused by:<br />
- you not having the correct passport or visa;<br />
- your transport provider’s refusal to allow you to travel for reasons beyond<br />
your control;<br />
- you not wanting to travel or not enjoying your trip; or<br />
- the company or person you booked your trip with (or their agents)<br />
being made bankrupt (see section 12 - O 2 passenger protection).<br />
- the withdrawal from service of an aircraft, cross-channel train or sea<br />
vessel (temporarily or permanently), on which you are booked to travel,<br />
by the carrier or on the recommendation or order of any government,<br />
civil aviation authority, port authority, rail authority or other similar<br />
authority in any country.<br />
• More than the lowest market value of equivalent accommodation,<br />
transport charges and other travel expenses, if payment was made using<br />
frequent flyer points, airmiles, loyalty card points, redeemable vouchers or<br />
another similar scheme.<br />
Under Cancellation<br />
• Any extra cancellation charges, because you did not tell the company or<br />
person you booked the trip with, as soon as you knew you had to cancel.<br />
• You not being able to afford the trip, except where you are made<br />
redundant and were only made aware of this after the date you bought<br />
your policy or booked your trip (whichever is later).<br />
Under Cutting short your trip<br />
• Cutting short your trip, unless we have agreed.<br />
• Costs for you to come home because of illness or injury when you did<br />
not get a medical certificate from the doctor treating you that says it was<br />
medically necessary for you to come home and we agreed to this.<br />
