Teresa Plenge Selman v. Cobb County School District, et al July 1, 2003
Q You don't think that it waters down
the County's education about evolution --
A No.
Q -- to highlight that evolution is a
theory, not a fact, and this particular theory
should be closely scrutinized? You don't think
that waters down the value of the science
education about evolution?
A No.
Q Why doesn't it?
A Because we are still required to
teach the QCCs and that's what gets taught.
Q Are you familiar with the
Copernican theory of planet rotation?
A No.
Q It's a theory that says that
contrary to what was popular belief at that
time, that, in fact, the earth travels around
the sun. You are familiar with that theory?
A Uh-huh (affirmative).
Q And to the best of your knowledge,
the Cobb School Board doesn't require there to
be any statement to the contrary or affecting
the Copernican theory, is there?
A Not specifically that theory, no.
