Although Ghostzapper, the striking son of Awesome Again, was a G1 winner at three when sprinting in the
Vosburgh-G1, he was so devastatingly brilliant stretching out at four and five that he rewrote the record books.
Literally. His Breeders’ Cup Classic-G1 remains the swiftest ever run. He holds other prestigious G1 wins (Met Mile-
G1, Woodward-G1), but it was the Philip H. Iselin-G3 that earned him a mind-boggling 128 Beyer Speed Figure, the
highest ever assigned in the 17 years since Beyers became the standard measurement. The exquisite ease in which
Ghostzapper decimated opponents, race after race, is in plain black and white: he also earned Beyers of 124, 122, and
120, proving his brilliance was no fluke and easily giving him the label of the “fastest horse in the history of Beyers.”
Ghostzapper was named Horse of the Year in 2004. This colt is a member of Ghostzapper’s first crop of highly
sought-after yearlings.
Three-time stakes winner and $400,000-plus earner Extend produced this colt. The young Unbridled’s Song mare
hails from one of the finest families in the stud book. Two of her half-sisters are graded stakes producers and her own
dam is a half-sibling to G1 winners Dancing Spree, Furlough, and Fantastic Find. Other immediate family members
include champions Heavenly Prize and Lady Pitt.
Ghostzapper’s wildly successful sire, Awesome Again, has a number of graded stakes winners who, like this colt,
descend from the Raise a Native broodmare line. Most notably, his G2 winner Awesome Gem, third in the 2007
Breeders’ Cup Classic-G1, is specifically out of a Fappiano-line mare, as is this colt.

DOGWOOD TWO: Forestry colt

Big bruiser stands over 16 hands already. Looks like a two-year-old. Massive shoulder. Great
flowing walk. Lovely head and generous eye.
Forestry the racehorse was well-heeled and well-wheeled, as the quaint Texan expression goes. Well-heeled
because he was bred to the nines: by sire of sires Storm Cat and out of G1 winner and multiple G1 producer Shared
Interest. And well-wheeled because he had a set of wheels on him with a motor to match that left rivals in his dust.
The best example of his prowess was Saratoga’s King’s Bishop-G1 at seven furlongs. His six-furlong split en route
to victory left bystanders gawking as he destroyed the track record. Forestry didn’t leave his talent on the racetrack,
however. Runner after runner by the young sire is proving to be a chip off the old block. With five crops ages three
and up, Forestry has 32 stakes winners, including such superstars as Cigar Mile-G1 winner Discreet Cat, Hollywod
Starlet-G1 winner Diplomat Lady, and Carter-G1 winner Forest Danger. Even his young horses look the part:
Forestry holds the distinction of siring the most expensive horse ever to sell at public auction.
Multiple Canadian graded winner Winter Garden produced this colt. The Roy mare was a real racehorse: she won
12 times in 18 starts from ages two to four and earned more than $900,000 in her racing career. Her six stakes wins
included the Bessarabian-G3 and George C. Hendrie-G3. Her granddam was Canadian Champion 2-Year-Old Filly

DOGWOOD THREE: Mineshaft colt
Mine Train out of Taste the Passion, by Wild Again
Athletic colt walks out with an impressive overstride. Confident personality, and full of energy
(got away from his handler at the sale!). Stands 15.1.
Beautifully bred and carefully managed, Mineshaft was graded stakes placed in France and a winner in the U.S. at
three. However, at four the full brother to multiple G1 winner Tomisue’s Delight was collecting graded stakes wins
like they were apples ripe for the plucking. They included some of racing’s most glittering prizes – The Jockey Club
Gold Cup-G1, Pimlico Special-G1, Suburban-G1, Woodward-G1, etc. – and it was no surprise when those trophies

Smarty Jones mania gripped the country in the spring of 2004 and with good reason. The beautifully balanced
chestnut with the catchy name and likeable connections was the first undefeated Kentucky Derby-G1 winner since
Seattle Slew. Like the great “Slew,” “Smarty” transcended racing and became a household name. And again in very
Slew-like fashion, Smarty Jones’s Derby was just a prelude of what was to come. His Preakness-G1 was sensational.
The 11 1/2 length margin of victory only enhanced his reputation. With the Belmont-G1 looming large, Smarty’s

Sleek, explosive type that promises to “run a hole in the wind.” Intelligent, confident mover. Good bone,

An undefeated G1 winner at two, Lion Heart had a sophomore campaign the envy of any owner in the business. His
graded wins included the Haskell Invitational-G1 and his runner-up performances included the Kentucky Derby-G1.
It doesn’t get much better than that. Lion Heart clearly had the desire to win and the talent to back it up. He didn’t
leave his massive heart on the track though -- his first runners, 2-year-olds this year, clearly take after their sire. The
summer season is still young, yet Lion Heart already has 15 winners and an eye-popping seven stakes horses. No
less than five are graded quality, including Hollywood Juvenile Championship-G3 winner Azul Leon, and TTA
Sales Futurity winner/Bashford Manor-G3 runner-up Lyin’ Heart, and Sapling S-G3 winner Silent Valor. It’s no
surprise Lion Heart is the runaway leader of the 2008 Freshman Sires list.
The three-time stakes winner Snappy Little Tune is the dam of this filly. Snappy Little Tune was as hard-knocking as
they come, with 46 starts and 14 wins. Her seven stakes wins or placings helped net her almost $385,000. She has
three winners already under her belt, including the Bassinet-placed Snappy Little Cat.
Lion Heart is a Storm Cat-line stallion and Snappy Little Tune is a Bold Ruler-line mare. This cross has experienced
