Nursery School
We provide an atmosphere of love and
understanding in which children can grow
physically, mentally, socially, and
emotionally under the guidance of
experienced teachers.
Our Goal at RRUMNS is:
• To provide an environment in which each
child's self concept can be enhanced.
• To provide an environment where children
can explore, discover, and develop
naturally.
• To build a good relationship with each
family and to expand on the foundation
provided at home.
• To provide an atmosphere that fosters
good social interaction and development.
• To provide experiences for children in
literature, science, art, music, and physical
activities.
• To provide an atmosphere that is
comfortable, safe, challenging, and
enjoyable.
Our Daily Play-Based Curriculum
Group Time focuses on:
• Language Arts skills with music and
songs, fingerplays, stories, show & tell and
creative movements and dramatics
Free choice activities focus on:
• Social interactions with peers
• Fine motor skills with building blocks
and small manipulatives
• Pretend play using housekeeping center
and dress-up
• Creativity with easel painting and art
activities
• Sensory exploration with sand and water
play
Snack Time focuses on:
• Encouragement of self-reliance through
their pouring, serving and cleaning up
• Development of good eating habits and
polite manners
Indoor/outdoor gross motor program
uses:
• Outdoor playground for climbing, sand
and water play, butterfly and dinosaur
garden
• Indoor gym for gross motor play during
inclement weather (ex. bikes, scooters)
Math and Science concepts with:
• An emphasis on self-discovery
• Age appropriate focus that builds into the
4 year old program with Fun Science with
Mrs. K!
Our Pre-K/4 year old program obtains
skills from learning experiences, with a
focus on play, in the following areas:
• Kindergarten readiness
• Social and emotional development
• Language, literacy, pre-writing, ABCs,
and phonic sounds
• Coloring, drawing, cutting, and crafting
• Numbers, patterning, sequencing, sorting,
and graphing
• Science (senses, life cycles, weather,
animal life, colors and seasons)
Classes and Times
Classes are available in the morning and
afternoon. Our class times are:
9:00 - 11:15 a.m.
Or
12:30 - 2:45 p.m.
Our Three Year Old Class meets twice a
week (on Tuesday & Wednesday or Thursday
& Friday).
Our Pre-K/4 Year Old Class offers two
options:
3 Days- Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
4 Days- Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and
Friday. This additional day enhances our
traditional 3 day program for Kindergarten
Readiness.
The Let’s Get Ready program for
enrolled children for 2013-2014 meets three
consecutive Mondays in May for 1 hour. A
parent and their 2½ - 3 year olds work and
play together to help bridge the gap between
home and school.

school's programs. PJ’s & Popcorn night,
Father's Day, Mother's Visitation, Special
Person’s Day, Spring Picnic and conferences
help to develop a closer bond between home
and school.
