and educations programs. In return, we are proud to offer a wide array of<br />

a diverse selection of plays, education programs, and special events and<br />

WHERE YOUR DONATION GOES <br />
<strong>Boston</strong> Children’s <strong>Theatre</strong> strives to provide <strong>the</strong> opportunity to engage in live<br />
<strong>the</strong>atre education and performance for <strong>children</strong> of all background, ethnicities<br />
and economic conditions. BCT maintains a strong policy that no student <strong>is</strong><br />
turned away for lack of ability to pay. To that end, our donors play an essential<br />
role in making th<strong>is</strong> a reality through supporting our high-quality programs:<br />
Scholarships: Your gift helps BCT provide scholarships for 30% of all students in <strong>the</strong><br />
BCT Academy, Summer Studios, and <strong>the</strong> BCT Show Choir.<br />
Our Productions: Our donors ensure that BCT can continue to provide <strong>the</strong> highest<br />
quality professional <strong>the</strong>ater productions. Your contribution helps pay for sets, costumes,<br />
and venue rental; hiring designers and directors; and developing new plays for youth.<br />
Teacher Ass<strong>is</strong>tance: Donations allow BCT to provide training and resources for<br />
teachers (including resource guides and workshops) to directly connect our plays to<br />
required learning benchmarks across a range of grade levels and subjects.<br />
Reduced-price tickets for schools: Donations underwrite reduced-price tickets to<br />
schools with <strong>the</strong> greatest need and keep ticket prices low for all schools.<br />

MEET THE CAST<br />
Burgess Clark<br />
Executive Art<strong>is</strong>tic Director<br />
A 30-year <strong>the</strong>atre professional, Burgess<br />
was nominated in ‘91 & ‘07 as a “D<strong>is</strong>tingu<strong>is</strong>hed<br />
Teacher in <strong>the</strong> Arts” by <strong>the</strong><br />
National Foundation for Advancement in<br />
<strong>the</strong> Arts. Prior to assuming leadership of<br />
BCT, Burgess was Director of Education at<br />
North Shore Music <strong>Theatre</strong>. From 1988-<br />
94, Clark was <strong>the</strong> National Instructor for<br />
<strong>the</strong> Kennedy Center for <strong>the</strong> Performing<br />
Arts, working with special populations &<br />
<strong>the</strong>ir educators. 5 of h<strong>is</strong> students have won<br />
<strong>the</strong> National Young Playwrights’ Award. An<br />
award-winning writer, Burgess wrote <strong>the</strong><br />
Emmy-nominated documentary series Pets:<br />
Part of <strong>the</strong> Family for PBS. He recieved <strong>the</strong><br />
Beverly Hills <strong>Theatre</strong> Guild’s ‘00 Julie Harr<strong>is</strong><br />
Award for h<strong>is</strong> play, The Ivory Alphabet.<br />
Burgess was also honored at <strong>the</strong> 15th Annual<br />
William Inge <strong>Theatre</strong> Festival as <strong>the</strong><br />
“New Voice in American <strong>Theatre</strong>.” In ‘99,<br />
he was awarded <strong>the</strong> Vermont Playwright’s<br />
Award for h<strong>is</strong> drama, The Touch.<br />
Toby Schine<br />
Executive Producer<br />
Toby produces 10+ shows a year & oversees<br />
BCT day-to-day. Toby has directed<br />
productions of RENT: School Edition,<br />
Alexander and <strong>the</strong> Terrible, Horrible, No<br />
Good, Very Bad Day & The Velveteen Rabbit.<br />
As an acting coach, Toby’s students<br />
have gained entrance into top conservatory<br />
programs around <strong>the</strong> world, including<br />
<strong>the</strong> Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, Carnegie<br />
Mellon, Cincinnati Conservatory of<br />
Music, & NYU. In 2009, all 13 of Toby’s<br />
students were accepted at <strong>the</strong> college of<br />
<strong>the</strong>ir choice. Prior to working at BCT, Toby<br />
was Ass<strong>is</strong>tant Director of Education at<br />
North Shore Music <strong>Theatre</strong>.<br />
