Subject: Special Action - Recall Identification Labels
Topic: New Special Action - Recall Labels.
Information: With each special service action or recall, BMW NA asks that your service
workshop attach one Special Action - Recall Label to the frame of the
motorcycle on which the special service action or recall has been
completed.
With the issue of Recall 98V-258, concerning the replacement of the fuel
pump flange seal on the K 1200 RS, this office asks that the workshop
completing the repairs attach a Special Action - Recall Label to the frame of
each K 1200 RS updated. The number “21” was to be punched out as an
identification of recall number 98V-258.
It was quickly pointed out that the Special Action - Recall Labels currently
available only went up to number “20”. Several different approaches were
taken. Some retailers punched out the “20” and then the “1”, some punched
out the “2” and the “1”, some punched between the “2” and the “1” and
some did nothing at all.
Response: Enclosed please find the new Special Action - Recall
Label covering numbers “21” to “40”. Your initial
shipment is 20 labels. Additional labels will be available
from your facing PDC under P/N 99 00 0 001 656(1=10).
Please use the new Special Action - Recall Label when
the numbers “21” through “40” are called for.
The earlier labels are still valid and should be used when
completing actions and recalls for identification numbers
between “1” and “20”. Additional Special Action - Recall
Labels are available from your facing PDC under
P/N 01 99 9 750 968 (order qty. 1 = pkg. of 100).
