1. The Crucifixion - An Extra<strong>or</strong>dinary Event and Time<br />

The religious pacif<strong>is</strong>t affirms that Chr<strong>is</strong>tians are to "take up their cross and follow<br />

<strong>Jesus</strong>", but can<strong>not</strong> seem to understand <strong>or</strong> differentiate the "cross" the Chr<strong>is</strong>tian must bear<br />

from the event in which Chr<strong>is</strong>t was hung upon the cross. Believing that Chr<strong>is</strong>tians are to<br />

respond everyday to injustice in the same manner <strong>Jesus</strong> did on the day of H<strong>is</strong> arrest and<br />

ensuing crucifixion only brings confusion in judging fellow Chr<strong>is</strong>tians as they defend<br />

themselves, their families <strong>or</strong> country from physical attack. Indeed, th<strong>is</strong> belief would<br />

cause, to say the least, indec<strong>is</strong>iveness at a time when split second action might be<br />

essential in fulfilling our m<strong>or</strong>al obligation to both God and man. Let us endeav<strong>or</strong> to<br />

clarify our duty and m<strong>or</strong>al obligation so that we act dec<strong>is</strong>ively should the situation ar<strong>is</strong>e.<br />

Let us start by looking into a particular day of <strong>Jesus</strong>' life.<br />

Th<strong>is</strong> single day in the 33 year life of <strong>Jesus</strong> <strong>is</strong>, of course, the day He was crucified.<br />

Th<strong>is</strong> day of <strong>Jesus</strong>' crucifixion <strong>is</strong> but one (1) out of approximately 12,045 days, in which<br />

<strong>Jesus</strong> lived and walked the earth. Th<strong>is</strong> day, appointed from the foundation of the w<strong>or</strong>ld,
