CheCklist <strong>for</strong> spring enrollment 2013<br />
GREETINGS NEW STUDENTS!<br />
We are excited to welcome you to the spring 2013<br />
semester. Please note this in<strong>for</strong>mation updates the<br />
calendar on pages 2 and 3 to reflect your mid-year<br />
entry into <strong>Chapman</strong> <strong>University</strong>. The remaining pages<br />
of the booklet still apply.<br />

Academic Program Evaluation<br />
For those students coming in with college work either<br />
from two- or four-year institutions and/or with AP<br />
or IB exam results that have been submitted, please<br />
refer to your Program Evaluation that you can access<br />
through your Web Advisor account. This Program<br />
Evaluation will list the remaining general education<br />
and major related courses left to complete at<br />
<strong>Chapman</strong>. For units still currently in progress or <strong>for</strong><br />
AP and/or IB exams that have not yet been submitted,<br />
please note that the Program Evaluation will continue<br />
to update as additional transcripts and test scores<br />
are submitted through the Office of Admission.<br />

If you applied <strong>for</strong> financial aid, you should receive<br />
your Financial Aid Awards letter two-to-three weeks<br />
after you have been admitted. If you have not filed<br />
a 2012-2013 FAFSA, you may still do so by going to<br />
www.fafsa.ed.gov. <strong>Chapman</strong>’s Financial Aid code is<br />
001164. Students who want to receive in<strong>for</strong>mation<br />
<strong>for</strong> grants, educational loans and Work Study must<br />
file a FAFSA <strong>for</strong>m.<br />

<strong>Enrollment</strong> Deposit<br />
To secure your spot in the spring class and to receive<br />
in<strong>for</strong>mation regarding academic advising and<br />
course registration, you must submit the completed<br />
enrollment deposit card (located in your admission<br />
packet) with the (non-refundable) $200 deposit by<br />
• Freshmen – November 1<br />
• Transfers – December 1 or two weeks after receipt<br />
of your admission packet, whichever is sooner.<br />

Housing Application/Deposit<br />
While living on campus is not required, you must<br />
submit the online housing application with the<br />
$50 fee and the $600 housing deposit if you are<br />
interested in housing. Although transfers may apply<br />
<strong>for</strong> housing, it is not guaranteed. Housing availability<br />
may be limited in the spring, so you should submit<br />
the in<strong>for</strong>mation by December 1. Applications<br />
submitted without the deposit will not be processed.<br />

If you are an incoming freshman who graduated<br />
from high school in 2012, make sure to mail in<br />
your final high school transcript, as well as any<br />
official college transcripts from any two- and fouryear<br />
colleges you attended. If you are currently<br />
taking courses, make sure to send your completed<br />
transcripts as soon as your current semester/quarter<br />
grades are posted. If you are an incoming transfer<br />
student, make sure to mail in all official college<br />
transcripts from all two- and four-year colleges you<br />

If you have completed AP (Advanced Placement)<br />
or IB (International Baccalaureate) courses and tests,<br />
you should submit an official test score report to<br />
possibly receive college credit. College credit will<br />
only be considered <strong>for</strong> scores that come directly<br />
from the College Board or the International<br />
Baccalaureate Organization and meet certain<br />
achievement standards.<br />

about your spring advising options and course<br />
registration procedures.<br />
Note: Deposited students are expected to<br />
complete academic advising prior to their<br />
assigned registration date. You will have the<br />
option of receiving advising online or in person.<br />

Although advising is only required <strong>for</strong><br />
incoming high school students who have<br />
graduated in 2012, academic advising is<br />
recommended <strong>for</strong> all incoming students.<br />
You must schedule an appointment with an<br />

a specific date and time when they can begin<br />
registering <strong>for</strong> courses. Those dates will be<br />
available on WebAdvisor beginning in January.<br />

<strong>Spring</strong> Semester Billing Statement will be<br />
e-mailed to your <strong>Chapman</strong> e-mail account. You<br />
will receive a billing statement that details tuition<br />
and other changes <strong>for</strong> the upcoming semester at<br />
the month end in which you register. Please note<br />
that the tuition and fee payment <strong>for</strong> the spring<br />
semester is due December 31, 2012.<br />

Although not required, this program is strongly<br />
encouraged <strong>for</strong> both incoming high school and<br />
transfer students. Participation will help you<br />
familiarize yourself with the academic and social<br />
aspects of <strong>Chapman</strong> <strong>University</strong>. Students living<br />
on campus will check into their residence halls as<br />
well. Mailings regarding Orientation will start to<br />
go out in late December/early January with<br />
RSVP instructions.<br />
