PRESS RELEASE
SILVERSTAR SUPERSELEKT 60/27 T from Glas Trösch
Transparent sun protection of the highest quality
Facade glass has to be an extreme all-rounder nowadays: In the summer, such a
glass must minimise the solar radiation coming into the inner space, but the glass
must also maximise the daylight inside the building year-round. The selectivity index
is a measure of these seemingly conflicting properties. SILVERSTAR SUPERSELEKT
60/27 T from Glas Trösch achieves a peak value of 2.22 for double insulating glass
and a selectivity of 2.12 for triple insulating glass. The selectivity index represents
the ratio of the light transmittance to the solar heat gain coefficient (g value). For
triple insulating glass, it has a value of 25 % (light transmittance 53 %, light
reflection 15 %) and for double insulating glass, a value of 27 % (light transmittance
60 %, light reflection 13 %). In practical terms, this translates into lower air
conditioning costs along with pleasantly maximised daylight. Furthermore, the
insulating glass meets very demanding requirements for winter heat insulation. For
example, the heat transfer coefficient (U g value) for the triple insulating glass is equal
to 0.4 to 0.7 W/m 2 K.
This makes SILVERSTAR SUPERSELEKT 60/27 T ideal for large-scale facades as well
as smaller glass solutions with demanding sun protection requirements, giving
architects much creative freedom when designing new buildings or updating existing
ones.
