avoid Bed Bug HiTCHHikers
1. Avoid hotels with problems. Check bed bug registries
online in advance of making a reservation. When you
check in ask the hotel manager if it has a bed bug
problem.
2. Leave luggage outside the room. Perform a
mini-inspection around the bed, check the mattress
along the upper and lower seams. Check the
headboard, bedside table, dresser and along
the wall on the side of the bed.
3. If signs of bed bugs are detected, request another
room. Be sure to inform hotel management. You should
inspect any new or different room you are offered.
4. After your trip, if you suspect a problem, unpack
luggage outdoors and inspect clothing. If there are
signs of bed bugs throw everything into the dryer on
the highest setting for 60 minutes, or the freezer for
two weeks (for delicates) then wash or dry clean.
Vacuum luggage thoroughly.
