Timber Depots specialise in the supply and delivery of panels and hardwood
products, servicing local businesses in Southern England. We are passionate and
experienced about what we do, offering high-quality products, first-class service and unbeatable delivery
times - for when you need it.
• Timber Depots stock an extensive range of timber products and can also supply an even wider range of material
from our worldwide suppliers, such as timber components and decking.
• For your added convenience all depots offer cutting services. Furthermore, the Stonehouse Severnply depot
also offers CNC machining.
• We are knowledgeable about what we do so whether you call in to collect or you telephone us we look
forward to giving you great customer service.
Timbmet Global
Timbmet Global is a division of Timbmet set up in 2008 to develop our global network
of customers through the impressive purchasing power and supplier partnerships
which already exist within Timbmet. The close relationship with suppliers and manufacturers enables Timbmet
Global to identify and develop new products, especially highly engineered timber products, which could benefit both
customers of Timbmet and Timbmet Global.
The growing customer base, which includes Malta, Oman and Dubai, already benefit from the huge cost savings
that direct imports offer. Timbmet Global welcomes enquiries from UK and international companies who require

Timbmet brings you iPack, an online ordering service, offering you the facility to search from Timbmet’s wide
range of timber products and then order online.
Products available include: sawn timber, panels, flooring, doors, machined and Timbmet Engineered
Components (TEC).
With the click of a mouse you can access our vast stocks to use as your own, enabling you to offer more to
your customers. iPack enables customers to view and specify the exact size of timber they need, receive a
quote and place an order quickly and easily.

Direct Business
We are able to service your requirements for large orders through direct business of full or half loads.
This is the most cost-effective method for placing bulk orders with an average requirement for 14
packs of panel products. All the packs must be within the same product range, for example, standard
MDF mixed with Moisture Resistant MDF and Light MDF. If you would like to place an order for direct
business then please contact our sales team who will be able to find you the most cost effective solution.

Through our supply chain assessment system we determine the forest of origin, the legal right to harvest and
the standard of forest management practiced for all of the timber and wood products that we buy. We are
committed to increasing the proportion of our purchasing that is independently certified or verified.
For specific environmental, certified or sustainable timber requirements on a contract, we offer a range of full
chain of custody certified products in FSC, PEFC, CSA, SFI, MTCC and Verified. Panel products are available
with FSC and PEFC chain of custody certificates.

Timbmet is able to provide a wide range of external timber
cladding options. As one of the UK’s largest suppliers
of PEFC certified Western Red Cedar, we offer this in 3
standard cladding profiles from stock with other profiles
available to order. Other species available include Larch,
Thermowood, FSC Louro, Iroko and European Oak. Our
experience and expertise of dealing with bespoke orders
through our own manufacturing services mean we are
also able to offer bespoke solar shading products. For

Veneered boards make an excellent substitute for solid hardwood in many applications. Quality varies in both the care taken
over selection of the veneers, stitching, gluing and the thickness of the veneer itself.
We pride ourselves on being the UK’s number one veneered board supplier. Over 50 years trading with Europe’s best

suppliers, our product development is constant, extending our range, sizes and source of raw material.

To complement our standard range of A/B quality Timbmet offer two further grade options on a variety of substrates
including moisture resistant MDF:
Our signature range is a superior quality intended to meet the increasing demand for a higher specification product from
producers of fine furniture.
Our natural range is an expression of the wood with all its typical features, a less pronounced or wilder structure, more
colour variations, smaller series of runs and some pronounced knots are classical examples of this quality. Priced to please
and broadly acceptable for a variety of internal work.
We offer three sanded engineered veneered mDF boards but other engineered veneers are available to order.
Jumbo sized boards are available, 3050 x 1830mm, in 19mm White Oak and American Black Walnut veneered MDF.
These boards offer greater optimisation resulting in reduced cost and waste.
Timbmet also offer veneered mDF mixmatch which uses the ‘mixmatch’ jointing technique, where wood veneer of
different trees and various grain patterns are matched, resulting in a more uniform quality, without losing the lively and
unique aspects of wood: Modern, innovative, creative and timeless all at the same time.

Halspan is a range of chipboard doorblanks FD30 and FD60 fire rated for interior use. Halspan are tested to BS476 Part 22
and are approved within BM TRADA Q-Mark Third Party Certification Schemes.
Halspan products have a three layer particleboard construction manufactured using materials which are FSC chain of custody
certified (FSC 70% Mixed Sources).
Halspan has achieved a ‘severe duty’ rating when tested to the mechanical performance requirements of DD171. Acoustic
performance data is also available.
There are many applications in which Halspan Optima and Halspan Prima doorblanks can be incorporated and guidance for
the product suitability of each type can be found within the Halspan technical specification manual.

Softwood stiles, rails and double lockblock on hollow core
specification which are kiln dried for interior use. Hollow core of
expanded multi cell paper. FD30 fire door core of solid chipboard
and double top and bottom rails.
FD60 doors have solid chipboard core but no top or bottom rails.

Complimentary hardwood species bonded with moisture
resisitent hot melt adhesive to solid stiles.
lacquer finish
The doors are fully lacquered with satin finish to both faces and
edges using 2 coats of UV clear acrylic. The finish provides a
smooth surface to the door allowing the natural beauty of the
veneer to be seen.
Performance
FD30 and FD60 Viscount Doors are ‘severe duty’ rated to DD171
which means they are suitable in areas of high frequency use.
acoustic properties
FD30 and FD60 Viscount Doors meet and exceed the
requirements of Building Regulations approved document E, they
are designed to meet demands for improved acoustic insulation
and to combat the problems of noise pollution from neighbours.
natural veneers
Veneers are natural material therefore colour/grain variations
are unfortunately unavoidable. All Viscount veneered doors
are generally supplied from stock and as such have been
manufactured in high volume production runs and not against
a specific order. The veneers used are of standard commercial
quality ‘A’ grade, log run and centre book matched.
Please note: Veneers, hardwood mouldings and glazing beads
are natural products and some variation in colour and grain is
unavoidable.

national (class 1 & class 0) vs. european (euroclass) classifications
The fire performance for all materials to be used in permanent constructions, including wood and wood based panel
products, are stated in Approved Document Part B to the Building Regulations of England and Wales, currently
allowing the use of fire classifications to either BS 476 British Standard fire tests or European Classification to BS EN
13501-1, based on European fire tests. Similar changes in the legislation for Northern Ireland and Scotland also allow
use of either classification.
Where a particular product standard exists for a specific material (e.g. BS EN 13986 for wood based panels or BS EN
14915 for solid wood panelling and cladding), compliance is mandatory if CE marking is required and only European
fire tests can be used to provide fire classifications.
British standards
Class 1 and Class 0 have been the traditional fire
performances required in the UK for a number of years.
Class 1 (BS476 Part 7) is commonly referred to as the
Surface Spread of Flame. Class 0 (BS476 Parts 6 & 7) is
more stringent and includes Class 1 as above but also
Part 6 which is known as the ‘Fire Propagation Index’
which measures the heat released when timber burns.
european classifications
Whilst we are currently in a transitional stage between
British Standards and the new European classifications,
eventually, at some point in the next few years the
European classifications will become mandatory for
materials used for permanent constructions.
To meet the new European classifications, the rate of
fire growth, lateral flame spread, total heat release and
smoke production for wood and wood based panel
products derived from European tests are used to
classify materials as Euroclass B or C in accordance with
BS EN 13501-1. Important: a particular species /
thickness is not deemed to have full formal Euroclass
status (B or C) until a Classification report has been
issued. Companies who fire treat timber / plywood
should be able to present such certification on request
as evidence of compliance.
The thresholds to achieve Euroclass B are higher
than those for Euroclass C and, therefore, if material
conforms to Euroclass B then by definition it also
conforms to Euroclass C.
The UK transpositions for traditional classes to
Euroclasses are:
Class 1 Euroclass C
Class 0 Euroclass B
Whilst European classifications to BS EN 13501-1
currently co-exist with traditional British Standards
(BS476 Parts 6 and 7) within Building Regulations and
either can be specified, these classifications are not
equivalent because they are derived from different test
methods measuring different properties.
Therefore BS 476 Class 1 is not equivalent to Euroclass
C and in turn Class 0 is not equal to Euroclass B.
A product having a Euroclass B or Euroclass C
classification cannot be sold as Class 0 or Class 1
respectively
Medite FR MDF Euroclass B is (currently) the only
MDF that meets both Euroclass B and BS476 Class 0
standards and can be used in both situations. Other
manufacturers do not offer this so great care should be
taken when deciding which product to use.
A common question: Are the new Euroclasses as good
as the old British Standards? The answer to this is that
they are simply a new set of reaction to fire tests that
are deemed as acceptable by Building Regulations as
the old British Standards.
Building Regulations dictate the fire performance
required, depending upon the location of the fire treated
material within the building.
The fire performance commonly required for internal
wall and ceiling linings is Class 1 Surface Spread of
Flame in accordance with BS476: Part 7 or Euroclass C
in accordance with BS EN 13501-1.
The fire performance commonly required in higher risk
areas such as external cladding within 1m of a boundary,
escape routes and staircases is Class 0 BS 476: Parts 6
& 7 or Euroclass B in accordance with BS EN 13501-1.

Most timber products can be treated by pressure
impregnation or surface coating processes to comply
with FR regulations. Please contact us for the details of
this service.
Please note that where a fire test certificate is required
for fabricated material, care must be taken to ensure
that the total composite will achieve the required result,
which can only be determined by appropriate testing.
Customers and specifiers must satisfy themselves
that the products they chose are fit for the required
applications.

The Eurodekor ® Melamine Faced Chipboard panels are
available in 30 colourways from uni to woodgrain decors
with a variety of textures to create a smooth high gloss
finish through to a textured matt finish or a woodgrain
appearance. The Eurodekor ® melamine faced boards are
suitable for indoor use in accordance with EN 14322:2004.
Eurolight ® is a rigid honeycomb core sandwiched between
two high-quality 8mm boards. This is ideal for creating
chunky look furniture while also being extremely light,
durable and portable. We hold in stock a raw sanded
product ready for finishing but bespoke ready finished
products are available to order, please ask for more details.
EUROLIGHT ® DECOR can be combined with all Egger
products due to its melamine faced surface.

Standard construction manufactured to BS 1088.
Bruynzeel Marine Plywood
Bruynzeel guaranteed plywood products were originally developed
for the marine industry, and are therefore ideal for exterior cladding
applications. Bruynzeel offer both ten and twenty-year guarantees
for weather and water-resistance for these plywood manufactured
products. The ultra-resilient range is perfect for fascias, soffit
cladding, ceilings, door panels and, naturally, marine and construction
projects. These products can even be used in ship hulls.
Hechthout ® plywoods are quality A/A (A sides have no joints and are
practically defect free) and are available with both transparent and
opaque paint finishing systems.

FaR easTeRn maRine PlyWooD
Manufactured in the Far East from moderately durable species to BS 1088·2003 ‘Plywood for Marine Craft’ standards. The
primary difference between marine and exterior grade is the quality of the core. Marine plywood has far fewer and smaller
core gaps. This is especially important where there is potential for the ingress of moisture, which can collect in the voids.
It is a product which is commonly specified in applications where performance is a critical issue.
In extreme applications, such as boat hulls, we would recommend you select a kite-marked or Lloyds approved plywood.

SmartPly is a good alternative to plywood because it doesn’t delaminate, has no
knotholes or other structural defects, is easy to work with and is less expensive.
It’s bonded with waterproof glue for exterior use and is ideal for a wide range of
uses. There are two grades of SmartPly:
• smartPly 2, a general purpose building panel manufactured to EN300
standard. It is recommended for general non-structural building purposes
and structural applications in dry conditions. It is ideal for general hoarding,
signboards, furniture, temporary framework and much more.
• smartPly 3, a strong, versatile board suitable for structural use in humid
conditions. It is ideal for use in a range of applications including roofing,
flooring and hoarding. This product is also approved for structural use by the
BBA, IAB, KOMO, NHBC and Local Authority Building Inspectors.
smartPly siteProtect is a durable coated panel specifically for site hoarding and
security applications, designed to save both time and money. SiteProtect uses
the SmartPly OSB3 board coated with a smooth heavy duty exterior surface
treatment which does not need to be primed. Logos can be fixed directly to the
board and if colour is required can be painted with fewer coats needed.
All SmartPly products are FSC certified and are supported by environmental
groups including Greenpeace and WWF.

Conditioning Fibreboards

Before final fixing fibreboards should be conditioned (bring their moisture content into equilibrium with their surroundings) this
helps to prevent subsequent movement problems.
Board conditioning by exposure to air conditioning with water
standard hardboard 3 to 5 days. Ideally 48 to 72 hours, min 23 hours.
Tempered hardboard 5 to 7 days. As above.
medium Density Fibreboard (mDF) Only required if boards have become
very dry, 3 days.
Not recommended.
insulating Boards Remove all packaging, 1 to 2 days. Not recommended.
Flame Retardant Board FR Boards contain water-soluble salts
so only condition in air.

A balancing back of equal or similar density to face
veneer to prevent warpage by moisture and/or pulling.
The balancer can be of any species and grade.

The Californian Air Resources Board CARB system
(which measures airborne emissions rather than the
amount of the formaldehyde in the board) is emerging
as the standard in the marketplace. The CARB 2
regulation will establish the toughest production

from composite wood panels.
ce Mark
Certificate European. All wood based panels intended
for use in construction must be CE-marked in
accordance with EN 13986.
ce2+
CE2+ is awarded to plywood which has normally
undergone Attestation System 2+ demonstrating
it is suitable for use in structural applications. An
independent organisation must test products to
ensure they conform to this guarantee.
ce4+
The CE4+ mark demonstrates that all tests for nonstructural
use have been conducted. No independent
organisation is involved with these tests.
chain of custody (coc)
A generic phrase for systems that allow traceability
of wood through the supply chain to the forest
of origination.
cpd
Construction Products Directive (CPD) is a European
legal framework regulating building products are
fit for their purpose in terms of their technical
performance. A product is CPD compliant if the
manufacturer has successfully completed all the
relevant performance tests.

Canadian Standards Association – A North American

The amount of compression of boards equates to kg
per m³, e.g. 630D, 720D.
doorblank
A doorblank is a thick panel usually 45 or 54mm
thick which can be trimmed and lipped to produce a
finished door. They are normally a solid and timber
or solid chipboard core faced with either plywood or
MDF ready for finishing.
durability
Natural durability is the inherent resistance of wood
to attack by wood destroying organisms.
euroclass b
The highest level of reaction to fire performance of
which wood based panels are capable.
euroclass c
An intermediate level of reaction to fire performance
of which wood based panels are capable.
Fire resistance / Fire retardant
A measure of the ability of a product, when part of
a complete structure, to prevent the passage of fire
from one area of a building to another. Panel product
fire resistance is identified under the Euroclass B &
C system, whereas doors are normally measured in
units of half hour.
Fd30
Fire Door 30 – this identifies the door as guaranteeing
to prevent the passage of fire from one area of a
building to another for 30 minutes, when part of a
complete structure. This is certified under the BM
TRADA Q Mark Third party certification scheme.
Fd60
Fire Door 60 – this identifies the door as guaranteeing
to prevent the passage of fire from one area of a
building to another for 60 minutes, when part of a
complete structure. This is certified under the BM
TRADA Q Mark Third party certification scheme.

Forest Stewardship Council – An international
certification scheme.
harmonised standard
A principle European standard, made by CEN in
accordance with a mandate from the European
commission, consolidating the harmonised European
requirements of a defined building product or group of
building products. In the case of wood based panels,
the Harmonised Standard is EN 13986.

Institute of Wood Science.
leed
Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. The
Green Building Rating System developed by the US
Green Building Council to provide a suite of standards
for environmentally sustainable construction. This is
the equivalent to England’s BREEAM scheme.
Mr
Moisture Resistant – MR boards are treated to protect
the product against moisture and high humidity so are
suitable for use in these environments.

Malaysian Timber Council Certification – A Malaysian

A veneer with a straight grain face produced by
