Love to draw, paint, sculpt, paste, construct, and generally create? Art club is an opportunity to
do all of these. We will meet Mondays at lunch in the art room to do individual and/or group
projects. Students can work on their own projects and ideas or work on the projects provided. If
you are looking for drawing or painting advice, Miss Thompson is a professional artist with a
Master of Fine Arts degree, and she is here to help you. Additionally, if you are interested in
learning about book art and illustration, these are a few of the topics we will cover. Art Club is
about having fun and creating meaningful and beautiful works of art!
In the ASL Club students will learn basic American Sign Language (ASL). They will be able to
have a basic conversation with someone who use is deaf or hard of hearing that uses ASL.

Joan Scherer The Chess, Chinese Chess, Checkers and Bridge Club offers a social setting where students
interested in the great games of chess, checkers and bridge can meet, network and have fun. If
there are enough students interested in learning bridge we will teach you how to play.
Dave Tomatis Do you like old movies? Come watch and discuss classic American films from all genres dating
from 1965 and before. Most of the films are black and white but we do mix in some color to keep
it interesting. Bring your lunch and enjoy classic American films.
Hayley Dupuy Do you like super heroes? Do you like role-playing games? Well, if you do, then join the DC
heroes RPG club! Make your own hero, battle villains, get powers and skills, and have fun!

Interested in digital art, mixed media projects, graphic design, photography and/or technology?!
Photoshop is an impressive skill set to have no matter what you want to do. Miss Thompson will
be teaching and advising on photoshop projects in Rm 160 on Tuesdays during lunch. Whether
you are a beginner or an expert, come learn, design, and create with us. Projects are of your
choosing or you can do the projects provided. Either way, we will be designing, creating, editing,
and having a great time!
Brad Booth The club is a co-ed team that meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays at lunch. Or mission is to
design and build Electric Vehicles.

Game of the week will stream live games in room 720. Games will include English Premier, La
Liga, Seria A, Champions League and March Madness (may also show baseball playoff games
depending on schedule). Most viewing will take place on Tuesday, Wednesday and/or Thursday
during lunch. Club promotes a physically healthy lifestyle for our students. Students will tune in to
KJLS to hear the weekʼs line-up.
Students will create, maintain, and utilize gardens that empower them to make healthy choices
for themselves and their community.
Girl Tech Club Maureen Willis Ladies, you are invited to join a community of girls who enjoy working with computers or who
want more time on computers. Youʼll have access to your own computer and all the software on
the computer as well as a scanner, digital musical keyboard and color printer. You can make
music using Garageband, create digital makeovers, try out your digital drawing skills with Adobe,
and much, much more!
Golf Club Kyle Hart The club will focus of golf skills and etiquette. We will be practicing skills and techniques on the
JLS field.

The Green Team is an important organization on campus that is comprised of both students and
staff members. Our job is to help JLS become a "greener" school -- we promote carpooling,
turning off lights and appliances, reducing, reusing, recycling, and composting. We will plan
activities for Earth Day 2012 and we may organize other events (such as gardening activities or
a beach clean-up day) depending on student interest.

Chris Mahle Jr. Thespians Club is for students with a flare for Drama. If you're an actor, director, designer,
technician, or just someone who likes plays and musicals, this club is for you. Club members will
work on their performance skills and also develop portfolios of their work to share with other
theatre students across the state.
Knowledge Bowl is a quiz contest with teams of four players competing. Questions are on a
variety of subjects so grade level is not a factor. Quick recall is emphasized with a student
holding up a paddle when wishing to answer. At the end of the year the team with the most wins
has the members names engraved on the Bowl in the breeze-way display case.
Latinos Juntos Andrea Gruner Come play Spanish games, make piñatas, Day of the Dead crafts and watch Spanish cartoons!
Itʼs a great way to learn a little Spanish or practice your conversational skills.

Club
Kate Franklin MathCounts is a club that works to prepare for the MathCounts competition in February.
Students work on challenging and complex problems as they get ready for the sprint, target and
team round of the competition. We look at many different areas of math including algebra,
geometry, puzzles, and probability.
Pandoraʼs Box Diana Wilson Experience whatʼs going on in Room 40! Listen to music and enjoy a welcoming place for
relaxation.

Looking for a group to exercise with one afternoon a week? Join the JLS Running Club for
supervised running practice and drills!
Looking to relax at lunch, de-stress from schoolwork or try out an exciting form of exercise? You
should join Relax & Breath Yoga Club. It's open to all JLS students that want to practice yoga &
learn relaxation techniques. We will learn yoga poses, learn how to sequence poses together &
the art of deep breathing for relaxation.
We will explore the internal struggles of Shaggy and his food cravings, Fred's bizarre infatuation
with setting traps, Velma's inferiority complex, and Scooby's desire to always be human. Oh
forget that. We will just watch cartoons.
Soccer Club Arvind Arya Get actively involved with playing soccer to promote teamwork, friendship, and sportsmanship.
Students will hopefully improve on their skills throughout the year. Boys, girls, and all newcomers
welcome. We meet on the fields on Friday's at lunch and pick teams.
Tennis Club Amanda The tennis club is for tennis players of all skill levels to come out and play matches or participate
Holmquist in tennis clinics to help improve their skills.

Toonavision meets in Room 400 or Room 810 every Thursday at lunchtime. Come relax, enjoy
lunch, and watch some of your favorite cartoons, such as The Flintstones, Tom and Jerry, The
Smurfs, or The Pink Panther.

Take a nice walk around the dirt track during lunch while hanging out and chatting with friends.
This is a great way to meet new people and have fun too.
Coach Creighton's wrestling club will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays at lunchtime in the
wrestling room. The club is designed to introduce students to the sport of wrestling. Activities
will include basic techniques, conditioning, film study and meditation. The club is open to boys
and girls.
Kim Lohse The writing club is a place for students to write fiction, poetry or any other genre and share this
work with other writers. We can collect the work and publish a group anthology or individual
anthology. We will also learn how to sew and make books.
Students who enjoy doing things for other people and learning about people and cultures from
other parts of the world should check out the YCS (Youth Community Service) club. Club
members will help plan mini service projects and also have the opportunity to participate in a
variety of community -minded events throughout the year.
