This unique 16 week (8 weeks in fall and 8 weeks in spring) program teaches<br />
children the fundamentals <strong>of</strong> soccer. This is open to all 5K-8th grade children.<br />
This program teaches fun, fi tness, and fair play. Children will learn proper<br />
soccer skills and compete against other teams within the Kettle Moraine Soccer<br />
League. Home games are played at Polk Field. Most games are played Saturday<br />
mornings.<br />
Mass Registration is April 18, <strong>2013</strong> at the <strong>Slinger</strong> Middle School from 5:00-<br />
7:30pm. Forms are available at the <strong>Slinger</strong> <strong>Village</strong> Hall and the <strong>Slinger</strong> Library.<br />

Welcome to the <strong>2013</strong> <strong>Spring</strong> & <strong>Summer</strong> Activities <strong>Guide</strong>. We would<br />
like to invite you and your family to take advantage <strong>of</strong> the many<br />
diverse and enjoyable recreation programs available through your<br />
very own parks and recreation department. Whether it be playing<br />
on “Brendan’s Playground” our newly constructed playground<br />
at Rueckl Fields Park near the <strong>Slinger</strong> Middle School or beating<br />
the heat at the Fireman’s Park Beach.<br />
You can enjoy the coming months by being with friends, making<br />
new friends, improving your health or just having fun as you try a<br />
new activity. Remember there is “Something For Everyone” here at<br />

INFORMATION<br />
RESIDENCY<br />
A resident for registration<br />
purposes, (for all programs held<br />
at a school district facility) is<br />
anyone who lives within the<br />
boundaries <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Slinger</strong> School<br />
District. A resident (for all<br />
programs held at <strong>Village</strong> owned<br />
property) is anyone who lives<br />
within the boundaries <strong>of</strong> the<br />
<strong>Village</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Slinger</strong>. To qualify<br />
as a resident the individual must<br />
pay their property taxes to the<br />
<strong>Village</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Slinger</strong>. The additional<br />
charge per program for nonresidents<br />
is $15.00 to $25.00.<br />

Swim Lesson Special Note:<br />
If you register for more than<br />
one session <strong>of</strong> swimming<br />
lessons, please register for the<br />
level the child is currently at.<br />
Most children require taking a<br />
level more than once in to<br />
successfully complete the<br />
requirements. If your child<br />
passes, and you have already<br />
enrolled them in that<br />
level again, please contact the<br />
Aquatic Supervisor to transfer<br />
your child to the next level.<br />
It is easier to move a child<br />
ahead, than to move them<br />
back if they do not.<br />
INSURANCE & LIABILITY<br />

Department does not provide<br />
hospital / medical insurance<br />
coverage for people<br />
participating in our programs and<br />
cannot assume<br />
responsibility for any injuries<br />
to participants in its recreation<br />
programs. All participants are<br />
required to complete and sign a<br />
liability waiver on the<br />
registration form prior to the start<br />
<strong>of</strong> the program.<br />
REFUND POLICY:<br />
There will be no refunds<br />
within 2 weeks <strong>of</strong> the<br />
starting date <strong>of</strong> any<br />
program. All other refunds<br />
will be processed after a<br />
50% cancellation charge is<br />
deducted. All refunds take<br />
a minimum <strong>of</strong> 2 weeks to<br />
process. Exceptions will be<br />
made for medical reasons.<br />

diving without plunging into a full<br />

takes to explore the other half <strong>of</strong> the<br />

colored golf ball you will win a<br />
prize. Children ages 16 and<br />
under are welcome to compete.<br />

YOUTH BASEBALL & SOFTBALL<br />
<strong>2013</strong> FIELDING CLINIC<br />
This clinic will provide children<br />
with an opportunity to learn the<br />
fundamentals <strong>of</strong> baseball from<br />
former varsity head baseball<br />
coach, Nate Grimm. This clinic is<br />
for children entering grades 3-5<br />
interested in improving their<br />
infi eld and outfi eld skills. Coach<br />
Grimm will be incorporating some<br />
<strong>of</strong> the same drills that Head Coach<br />
Dummer and the high school<br />
coaches use in the <strong>Slinger</strong> High<br />
School Program. Bring your cap,<br />
glove and cleats along<br />
with a water bottle.<br />

“COPS AND BOBBERS”<br />
With the <strong>Slinger</strong> Police Department<br />
“Cops and Bobbers” is a non-pr<strong>of</strong>i t<br />
program which has been designed<br />
to catch the attention and interest <strong>of</strong><br />
kids. The idea behind the program is<br />
to get kids hooked on fi shing rather<br />
than drugs and crime. The <strong>Slinger</strong><br />
Parks, Recreation & Forestry Dept.<br />
and the <strong>Slinger</strong> Police Dept. will be<br />
organizing the trip with help from<br />
volunteers and sponsors. This<br />
summer trip is for the purpose <strong>of</strong><br />
teaching kids how to fi sh and also<br />
about preservation <strong>of</strong> our natural<br />
resources. The idea is to challenge<br />
our kids and teach them the meaning<br />
<strong>of</strong> teamwork, integrity, and respect<br />
for others. The outing will be on Big<br />
Cedar Lake.They also will receive a<br />
T-shirt with the Sponsor’s logo.<br />

was the only relay selected to host<br />
the American Cancer Society’s<br />
Cancer Prevention Study-3 (CPS-3).<br />
This is a nationwide study that will<br />
help identify some <strong>of</strong> the major<br />
factors that can affect cancer risk.<br />
Men and women between the ages<br />
<strong>of</strong> 30 and 65 who have never been<br />
diagnosed with cancer are needed to<br />
participate. Initial enrollment will<br />
be processed at the Hartford/<strong>Slinger</strong><br />
event on Friday, June 14 and takes<br />
about 30 minutes, with a follow-up<br />
baseline survey, that will come in the<br />
mail and will take aprroximately 1<br />
hour to complete at home. After that,<br />
participants will be mailed follow-up<br />
surveys every few years.<br />

COACH CONCUSSION AGREEMENT FORM<br />
As a Coach it is important to recognize the signs, symptoms, and behaviors <strong>of</strong> concussions. By signing this form you<br />
are stating that you understand the importance <strong>of</strong> recognizing and responding to concussions and head<br />
injuries per the guidelines set forth by the Department <strong>of</strong> Public Instruction and Statute 118.293. It is your<br />
responsibility to read all concussion related information before signing this form. All information is posted on our<br />
website at www.vi.slinger.wi.gov. Concussion information will also be reviewed at all Coaches pre-season<br />
meetings.<br />
