The Village of Slinger has many wonderful parks, which we encourage you to enjoy! Whether you are
planning a picnic or enjoying the views, it is a great way to spend the day. To make reservations for park
shelters and picnic areas, stop in at the Slinger Village Hall. Rental Fees are determined by Village

This unique 16 week (8 weeks in fall and 8 weeks in spring) program teaches
children the fundamentals of soccer. This is open to all 5K-8th grade children.
This program teaches fun, fi tness, and fair play. Children will learn proper
soccer skills and compete against other teams within the Kettle Moraine Soccer
League. Home games are played at Polk Field. Most games are played Saturday
mornings.
Mass Registration is April 18, 2013 at the Slinger Middle School from 5:00-
7:30pm. Forms are available at the Slinger Village Hall and the Slinger Library.

Welcome to the 2013 Spring & Summer Activities Guide. We would
like to invite you and your family to take advantage of the many
diverse and enjoyable recreation programs available through your
very own parks and recreation department. Whether it be playing
on “Brendan’s Playground” our newly constructed playground
at Rueckl Fields Park near the Slinger Middle School or beating
the heat at the Fireman’s Park Beach.
You can enjoy the coming months by being with friends, making
new friends, improving your health or just having fun as you try a
new activity. Remember there is “Something For Everyone” here at

PROGRAM REGISTRATION
INFORMATION
RESIDENCY
A resident for registration
purposes, (for all programs held
at a school district facility) is
anyone who lives within the
boundaries of the Slinger School
District. A resident (for all
programs held at Village owned
property) is anyone who lives
within the boundaries of the
Village of Slinger. To qualify
as a resident the individual must
pay their property taxes to the
Village of Slinger. The additional
charge per program for nonresidents
is $15.00 to $25.00.

Step 1: Complete the registration
form on the back page of this
Activity Guide. Fill out all the
information carefully and clearly.

Swim Lesson Special Note:
If you register for more than
one session of swimming
lessons, please register for the
level the child is currently at.
Most children require taking a
level more than once in to
successfully complete the
requirements. If your child
passes, and you have already
enrolled them in that
level again, please contact the
Aquatic Supervisor to transfer
your child to the next level.
It is easier to move a child
ahead, than to move them
back if they do not.
INSURANCE & LIABILITY
The Slinger Parks,
Recreation & Forestry
Department does not provide
hospital / medical insurance
coverage for people
participating in our programs and
cannot assume
responsibility for any injuries
to participants in its recreation
programs. All participants are
required to complete and sign a
liability waiver on the
registration form prior to the start
of the program.
REFUND POLICY:
There will be no refunds
within 2 weeks of the
starting date of any
program. All other refunds
will be processed after a
50% cancellation charge is
deducted. All refunds take
a minimum of 2 weeks to
process. Exceptions will be
made for medical reasons.

swimming skills and to promote and
develop a positive and safe atmosphere
in an aquatic environment.

Goal: Develop confi dence and

front & back crawl, elementary
backstroke, breaststroke,
sidestroke & butterfl y, fl utter and

Level V - Stroke Refi nement
Available During Sessions III- IV
Goal: Provide coordination &
refi nement. Skills: Shallow angle
dive from platform then glide and
begin front stroke, tuck & pike
surface dives, submerge

swimming, front & back crawl,

Level VI - Skill Profi ciency
Available During Session IV
Goal: Improve stroke, speed and
endurance Skills: Refi nes the
strokes so participants swim them
with ease, effi ciency and power
over greater distances. Level 6
will prepare participants for more
advance courses, including Water
Safety Instructor or other
activites, such as competitive
swimming or diving.

Underwater Connection of
Delafi eld will be offering you the

THURSDAY TREASURE DAZE
Once an hour the lifeguards will
drop different colored golf balls
into the water. You are not allowed
to pick them up until the guards
announce the hunt to begin. If you

colored golf ball you will win a
prize. Children ages 16 and
under are welcome to compete.

YOUTH BASEBALL & SOFTBALL
2013 FIELDING CLINIC
This clinic will provide children
with an opportunity to learn the
fundamentals of baseball from
former varsity head baseball
coach, Nate Grimm. This clinic is
for children entering grades 3-5
interested in improving their
infi eld and outfi eld skills. Coach
Grimm will be incorporating some
of the same drills that Head Coach
Dummer and the high school
coaches use in the Slinger High
School Program. Bring your cap,
glove and cleats along
with a water bottle.

ADAPTIVE RECREATION
PROGRAMS
IndependenceFirst offers a variety
of wheelchair sports and adaptive
recreation programs for youth and
adults with disabilities. Wheelchair
sports programs such as: basketball,
tennis, softball, ice hockey, and
street hockey are appropriate for
individuals with primary physical
disabilities. Adaptive recreation
programs such as down hill skiing,
water skiing and bocce ball are
appropriate for people with most
types of disabilities. Beep baseball
and goal ball are also offered to
those who are blind/visually

Parks & Recreation Inc. is a non-profi t organization which is dedicated to
improving and maintaining the Slinger parks for all citizens. Volunteering as

“COPS AND BOBBERS”
With the Slinger Police Department
“Cops and Bobbers” is a non-profi t
program which has been designed
to catch the attention and interest of
kids. The idea behind the program is
to get kids hooked on fi shing rather
than drugs and crime. The Slinger
Parks, Recreation & Forestry Dept.
and the Slinger Police Dept. will be
organizing the trip with help from
volunteers and sponsors. This
summer trip is for the purpose of
teaching kids how to fi sh and also
about preservation of our natural
resources. The idea is to challenge
our kids and teach them the meaning
of teamwork, integrity, and respect
for others. The outing will be on Big
Cedar Lake.They also will receive a
T-shirt with the Sponsor’s logo.

19th Annual American Cancer
Society Relay for Life
Hartford / Slinger
For 18 hours, teams of 8-15
people walk overnight to raise money
through donations to help the
American Cancer Society.
CELEBRATE survivors,
REMEMBER those lost to cancer
and FIGHT BACK a disease that
has already taken too much. Join us
for a mostly FREE family orientated
event with entertainment, games,
music and food. Cancer Survivors:
Register as our special guests for
the Opening Survivors Lap of your
Hartford-Slinger Relay For Life at:

This year’s event is special because
the Hartford/Slinger Relay For Life
was the only relay selected to host
the American Cancer Society’s
Cancer Prevention Study-3 (CPS-3).
This is a nationwide study that will
help identify some of the major
factors that can affect cancer risk.
Men and women between the ages
of 30 and 65 who have never been
diagnosed with cancer are needed to
participate. Initial enrollment will
be processed at the Hartford/Slinger
event on Friday, June 14 and takes
about 30 minutes, with a follow-up
baseline survey, that will come in the
mail and will take aprroximately 1
hour to complete at home. After that,
participants will be mailed follow-up
surveys every few years.

COACH CONCUSSION AGREEMENT FORM
As a Coach it is important to recognize the signs, symptoms, and behaviors of concussions. By signing this form you
are stating that you understand the importance of recognizing and responding to concussions and head
injuries per the guidelines set forth by the Department of Public Instruction and Statute 118.293. It is your
responsibility to read all concussion related information before signing this form. All information is posted on our
website at www.vi.slinger.wi.gov. Concussion information will also be reviewed at all Coaches pre-season
meetings.

Registration for our 6 week
summer program begins on
Monday, June 3, 2013.
June 17- At 6:00pm the Slinger
Library Fair. Snow cones, nachos
and cotton candy will be served
thanks to Nehm’s Greenhouse and
the Friends of the Slinger Library.
June 20 - At 6:00pm come to the
library and enjoy a movie! Get a
free ticket prior to the showing.
Movie: The Odd Life of Timothy
Green
June 26 - At 1:30pm - Sweet
Treats! The Friends of the Slinger
Library will be hosting a bake sale
at the Library.
June 26 - At 2:00pm - Miller &
Mike will be here to entertain all
our summer program participants
and their families!
June 27 - At 1:00pm come to the
library and enjoy a free movie!

July 9 - Family Fun Night @ the
Horicon Marsh. Join all the area
libraries for this fun-fi lled event.
The Library has all the details.
We are looking for volunteers in
Middle School and above. Adults
are welcome and encouraged to
help also! We are asking for you
to commit to a minimum of One,
3-4 hour block of time. The times
would be between 10am and 2pm,
Monday through Friday.
