• We run a Commercial Property Development business<br />
(shopping centre and residential subdivision) at<br />
Highfields & in 2007 we became aware <strong>of</strong> the threat<br />
associated with the possible closure <strong>of</strong> Borneo Barracks.<br />
• Once we were able <strong>to</strong> obtain a copy <strong>of</strong> Defence<br />
consultants report in late 2008 (after threat <strong>of</strong> FOI) we<br />
quickly realised the broader negative economic impact<br />
the premature closure <strong>of</strong> Borneo Barracks would have<br />
on the whole <strong>Toowoomba</strong> region.<br />
• While there seems <strong>to</strong> be no imminent threat <strong>of</strong> closure <strong>of</strong><br />
Borneo Barracks we are closely moni<strong>to</strong>ring the situation<br />
and generally informing business and the public <strong>of</strong> the<br />
issue.
