M ix it: saucepan the sugar, cocoa and salt Stir in slowly a mixture of l/ i cup m ilk and the water. Boil and sti: over low heat 5 min. Remove frorr heat; stir in softened gelatin unti! dissolved. A d d vanilla and nuts. Chill until slightly thicker than unbeaten egg whites. Rub with vegetable oil i pan measuring about 8x4x2 inches deep. Pull cake into small pieces. Pui into bottom of oiled pan. W hip chilled m ilk with cold rotary beater or electric beater at high speed, until stiff. Fold into gelatin mixture. Poui over cake in pan. C hill until firm. Cui in thick slices. Makes 4 servings. Osborn and Mrs. A. N. Butler entertained on Saturday afternoon at the first of two spring teas in the Osborn home honoring Mrs. Frederic Adams, a recent bride. Spring flowers were used throughout the home and tea was served from a table centered with a bouquet of yellow daffodils and acacia with three branch candelabra on either side. Assisting at the tea on Saturday were Mrs. George S. W illiam s, Mrs. W endell Jones of Plm youth, Mrs. Charles M aull Jr., and Mrs. Robert Rust. Those assisting at the second tea on Thursday afternoon w ill be Mrs. Carl Adams, Mrs. E. J. Kistler, Mrs. Val H errm ann, Mrs. R alph Osborn Sr., and Mrs. Mary Am anda Hoffm an. W. S. C. S. Meeting Mrs. R alph Osborn Sr., was hostess on Wednesday afternoon to the W omen's Society of Christian Service of the .Methodist Church. Devotions were given by Mrs. Fred Masten and the speaker for the meeting was Mrs. H. L. Wer- nes who used as her topic. “ W o men in American Church L ife.” Following the program, a social hour was enjoyed. Refreshments ■were served to the twenty one members and guests present. 5-8-5 Home Economics Club Family Night The Culver - Union Township H om e Economics Club observed fam ily night on Friday evening when they held a pot luck supper in the Lions Den. Approximately 4 5 members and guests attended. Follow ing the supper, group singing was led by Mrs. Ferris Zechiel. Joyce K line played a group of saxophone solos and was accompanied by her mother, Mrs. W hitney Kline. Movies oil his trip to California were shown by Carl A d a m s ‘ Jr. Robert R ust spoke to the group on “ Public Relations in Your C om m unity.” §-§-§ Culver City Club Hears Mrs. Weaver * K •. * Thelma Messick Weaver, guest artist of Laporte, was featured on the anniversary program of the Culver City Club on Thursday evening when approximately one hundred members and guests heard her review, “ Father of the Bride.” Others on the program were Freddie Edgington who played *‘H-umoreske” by Dvorak as a violin solo, and Mary Evelyn W hite of Plym outh who sang beautifully a group of solos.
