Culver Residents Vacationing- In Sunshine State

In a letter to the Citizen the
vacationers tell of their trip as
follows: “ We left Culver on February
2, coming to Florida via
Evansville, Chattanooga, Cordelia,
Atlanta, Macon, St. Peters­
burg. Sarasota and Naples, where
we picked our first oranges.
"F rom there we took the Tam-
iam i Trail through the Everglades
n ^to M iam i where we spent a
little time with .Jesse Osborn.
Then onto Homestead and from
there to Key West. Then up the
east coast to Fort Lauderdale,
Palm Beach, Vero Beach, Hobe
Sound, Melbourne and to the
Indian river where we got up early
to see the fishermen come in
w ith their fish.
“ We drove, inland to Kissimmee
and visited a short while with a
friend, Mrs. Pea Otlo, formerly of
Plymouth, Ind. A t W inter Park
we saw* the largest cypress tree
in the world, next we went to
Bok Tower and W inter Haven
to the Citrus Festival.
“ They have a Com m unity sale
in Kissimmee every Wednesday.
W e went twice and saw them sell
large B rahm a bulls. Also saw
cattle ranches where huge piles
of citrus fruit were dumped in
fields for the cattle.
“ The weather is grand - little
•cool of m ornings - always have
a little fire. We sure are enjoying
the glorious sunshine. We
received three Culver Citizens
March 1st and we all wanted to
read them at once - had no m ail
for a m onth as we d id n ’t stay in
one place long enough to have
an address, so we sure appreciat­
ed the Citizen.”
