by sub-section (5) of Section 1 of the Employees' State
Insurance Act, 1948 (CentralAct XXXIV of 19a8), the Governor
of Tamil Nadu, in consulation with the Empioyees' State
Insurance Corporation and with the approval of the Central
Government, after complying with the statutory requirement
of giving six months notice of the intention of the Tamil Nadu
Government vlde Labour and Employment Department
Notification No. ll (2)LE/265/2008, pubtished at page 206 of
Part-ll Section 2 of the larnrT Nadu Government Gazette,
dated the 4th June 2008, hereby extends the provisions of
the said Act, to the educational institutions (excluding
Government and Government aided institutions) run by
individuals, trustees, societies or other organizations, wherein
twenty of more persons are employed or were employed on
any day of the preceding twelve months, with effect from the
date of publication of this Notification.

Atteltion to all Private Educational
Instilrtlrns in Tamil Nadu
ln exercise of powers conferred by Section 1(5) of the ESI Act 1948, the
Government of Tamil Nadu has issued Notification in the Tamil Nadu Gazette
extending the provisions of the ESI Act with effect from 29.12.2010 to Educational
Institutions (excluding Govt. & Govt. aided instilutions) run by individuals, Trustees,
Societies or other organizations.
All the Educational Institutions, (excluding Govt. & Govt. aided institutions)
wherein 20 or more persons are employed or were employeci on any day of the
preceding 12 months, are required to register their institutions before 72.1.2011 by
submitting the prescribed Registration Form-01 to respectirre ESIC Regional Office / Sub
Regional Offices. Employers' should also simultaneously register their employees, who
are drawing monthly wages not exceeding Rs.15,000/-,
by obtaining the family
particulars and filling up the Declaration Forms, which should be submitted to the
concerned ESIC Branch Office concerned.
Employer's Registration Form (Form 01) may also be downloaded from our
website esichennai.org and printout of the Registration Form can be taken by clicking
"forms" in "Home Page". Duly filied in print out, along with required enclosures
should be sent to the concerned ESIC Regional or Sub Regional Offices, as the case may
be. For details regarding various benefits available und-er the Act, Piease log on to our
website esichennai.org.
