Recent survey data indicate that the Critically Endangered Slender-billed Vulture Gyps tenuirostris and
White-rumped Vulture G. bengalensis still occur widely across Chin, Kachin and Shan States. The populations
of these species in Myanmar are of high global conservation significance, particularly because they do not
appear to be affected by the factor(s) responsible for the precipitous decline of vulture populations in the Indian
