Many <strong>of</strong> the challenges the world confronts today<br />
were not on the radar screen a generation ago, from<br />
the information revolution to climate change to<br />
China’s rise as an international power. <strong>The</strong> <strong>Elliott</strong><br />
<strong>School</strong> constantly updates its curriculum to prepare<br />
students for the intellectual and pr<strong>of</strong>essional<br />
challenges <strong>of</strong> the 21st century. In 2006-2007, the<br />
<strong>Elliott</strong> <strong>School</strong> added new courses on Political islam,<br />
energy and national security, human Trafficking,<br />
fragile and Transition states, Policy options in<br />
macroeconomic crises and War and conflict in<br />
africa, among others. We also added new capstone<br />
courses for graduate students on interagency<br />
cooperation in the U.S. federal government and<br />
on evaluating risk in emerging markets, and we<br />
expanded our pr<strong>of</strong>essional skills curriculum with new<br />
courses on analyzing international economic data,<br />
administration <strong>of</strong> elections and Political analysis.<br />

developing countries
