<strong>The</strong>me Issue on<br />

<strong>Science</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Engineering</strong> at the Nanoscale<br />

<strong>The</strong> Editorial Board of the <strong>Arabian</strong> <strong>Journal</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>Science</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Engineering</strong> (<strong>AJSE</strong>) plans to publish in June 2009, an<br />

issue which contains the latest developments in "<strong>Science</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Engineering</strong> at the Nanoscale". <strong>The</strong> aim is to produce a<br />

collection of papers on the subject from diverse disciplines <strong>and</strong> areas of interest, including:<br />

• Nanoparticles (Synthesis, functionalization, magnetism, chemical, <strong>and</strong> physical properties; Applications: catalysis,<br />

sensors…)<br />

• Nanotubes <strong>and</strong> Nanowires (Synthesis <strong>and</strong> purification, functionalized carbon nanotubes; properties: sensing,<br />

mechanical, electronic, <strong>and</strong> optical, chemical modification <strong>and</strong> tailoring of nanotubes; additives: fuel additives,<br />

lubricants, water purification, composite nanomaterials).<br />

• Nanostructured Films (Deposition techniques <strong>and</strong> properties; applications: coatings, gas sensing, biosensors,<br />

nanostructured films <strong>for</strong> solar cells, fuel-cells).<br />

• Nano <strong>Engineering</strong> (Nanofabrication, deep submicron <strong>and</strong> nano-scaled devices, nanoelectronic technology,<br />

nano/micro engineered <strong>and</strong> molecular systems, supramolecular systems <strong>for</strong> optoelectronic applications: OLED,<br />

OTFT, photovoltaic cells, organic lasers, sensors, switches, computer aided design <strong>for</strong> nanotechnology era:<br />

modeling <strong>and</strong> simulation; micro- <strong>and</strong> nano-mechanical systems: MEMS <strong>and</strong> NEMS).<br />

• Nanobiotechnoy <strong>and</strong> Nanomedicine (Health <strong>and</strong> safety, toxicity of nanomaterials, drug delivery, enhanced<br />

bioimaging).<br />

<strong>AJSE</strong>-Mathematics<br />

CALL FOR PAPERS<br />

<strong>The</strong> <strong>Arabian</strong> <strong>Journal</strong> <strong>for</strong> <strong>Science</strong> <strong>and</strong> <strong>Engineering</strong> (<strong>AJSE</strong>), a peer-reviewed research<br />

journal published since 1975 by King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (Saudi<br />

Arabia), is launching a new periodical “<strong>AJSE</strong>-Mathematics” as a part of its strategy to<br />

create more focused <strong>AJSE</strong>-journals.<br />

<strong>AJSE</strong>-Mathematics will be launched in March 2009 <strong>and</strong> will publish carefully refereed<br />

research papers in all areas of Mathematics. Solicited articles of a survey or review nature<br />

may also be included. Submitted manuscripts should be well-written, original <strong>and</strong> of interest<br />

to a wide readership.<br />

Manuscripts will be considered <strong>for</strong> publication only if they have not been published<br />

previously <strong>and</strong> are not under consideration <strong>for</strong> publication elsewhere. <strong>The</strong> submissions<br />

should be made online or by e-mail to ajse-mathematics@kfupm.edu.sa after March 1,<br />

2009.<br />
