The hypothesis that was tested was: Health Locus of Control will<br />

account for differences in perceived pain relief in persons who have had<br />

abdominal surgery and received epidural analgesia for pain control.<br />

Table 4 depicts the comparison of mean pain scores on day one when the<br />

sample was categorized by health locus of control (HLC); i.e.. internal health<br />

locus of control (IHLC), chance health locus of control (CHLC), or powerful<br />

others locus of control (PHLC).
