Description<br />

This course has been designed to fill the current needs of pediatricians,<br />

family practitioners and allied health professionals interested in the care<br />

of infants, children and adolescents. In its 41st consecutive year, Pediatric<br />

Trends is designed to review recent advances in biomedical and behavioral<br />

sciences, which will have an impact upon the health and medical care<br />

of children from fetal life through adolescence. Combining lectures in<br />

pediatric science, clinical demonstrations, conferences and symposia, a<br />

problem-oriented approach is emphasized.<br />

Who Should Attend<br />

This activity is intended for pediatricians, family practitioners, physician<br />

assistants, pediatric nurse practitioners and other allied health<br />

professionals interested in the care of infants, children and adolescents.<br />

Objectives<br />

After attending this activity, the participant will demonstrate the ability to:<br />

• Evaluate and manage closed head injuries<br />

• Discuss new findings of neonatal jaundice and the aftermath of<br />

isoimmune jaundice<br />

• Determine when to manage or refer children with pigmented nevi<br />

• Identify and manage movement disorders in children<br />

• Apply the new guidelines for cardiovascular health and risk reduction<br />

in children and adolescents<br />

• Discuss new findings and management of sickle cell trait<br />

Accreditation Statement<br />

The Johns <strong>Hopkins</strong> University School of Medicine is accredited by the<br />

Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide<br />

continuing medical education for physicians.<br />

Credit Designation Statement<br />

The Johns <strong>Hopkins</strong> University School of Medicine designates this live activity<br />

for a maximum of 36.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should<br />

claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation<br />

in the activity.<br />

Other Credit<br />

Application for <strong>CME</strong> credit has been filed with the American Academy of<br />

Family Physicians. Determination of credit is pending.<br />

This continuing medical education activity has been reviewed by the<br />

American Academy of Pediatrics and is acceptable for a maximum of 36.0<br />

AAP credits. These credits can be applied toward the AAP <strong>CME</strong>/CPD<br />

Award available to Fellows and Candidate Members of the American<br />

any activity due to unforeseen circumstances. In this event, the University<br />

will refund the registration fee but is not responsible for travel expenses.<br />

Additionally, we reserve the right to change the venue to a comparable venue.<br />

Under such circumstances registrants will be notified as soon as possible.<br />

Late Fee and Refund Policy<br />

A $50 late fee applies to registrations received after 5:00 p.m. EST on<br />

April 9, 2013. A handling fee of $50 will be deducted for cancellation.<br />

Refund requests must be received by fax or mail by April 9, 2013. No<br />

refunds will be made thereafter. Transfer of registration to another Johns<br />

<strong>Hopkins</strong> conference in lieu of cancellation is not possible.<br />

Outcomes Survey<br />

A survey will be sent to all physician attendees within three months post<br />

activity to assist us in determining what impact this activity had on the<br />

attendee’s practice.<br />
