In-School Hockey Clinics
For the sixth consecutive year, the
Carolina Hurricanes and Wake County
Public Schools joined forces to bring the
game of hockey to physical education
classes. The program is designed to teach
character traits, like teamwork, leadership
and sportsmanship, through the game of
hockey. Schools adopted the program this
year, which is a testament to the growth
and excitement surrounding the sport.
Street Stormers
Through a partnership with the NHL
Street Initiative, the Canes Street Stormers
program donates street hockey equipment
to recreational facilities in an effort to grow
the game of hockey and support local youth
sport programs. Each donation includes
enough nets, goalie equipment, sticks and

pucks and balls to outfi t 30 players in
games and clinics. Local Boys and Girls
Clubs and the Raleigh Parks and Recreation
Department are some of the most active
participants in the program.
Speakers’ Bureau
The Carolina Hurricanes receive numerous
speaker requests each year from
community groups and organizations, clubs,
professional organizations, and schools.
Potential speakers include television playby-play
announcer John Forslund, Hall of
Fame radio play-by-play announcer Chuck
Kaiton, TV color analyst Tripp Tracy, and
Vice President and General Manager of the
RBC Center Davin Olsen. These speakers
often highlight their own experiences
with the team and how they relate to a
specifi c topic.
