Upon disembarking from your Galapagos cruise,<br />

Day 11<br />

CUZCO<br />

Your flight from Lima to Cuzco takes you to the<br />

archeological capital of the Americas and center<br />

of the former Inca Empire. You’ll tour nearby<br />

archeological sites including Koricancha, the<br />

Temple of the Sun; the famous Fortress of<br />

Sacsayhuaman, built with enormous blocks of<br />

granite; Qenko, a gigantic rock with ceremonial<br />

steps; and Puca Pucara and Tampu Machay, offering<br />

marvelous views of the surrounding area. Overnight<br />

at Hotel Monasterio.<br />

Day 12<br />

THE SACRED VALLEY<br />

Depart Cuzco for Urubamba Valley, the Sacred<br />

Valley of the Incas. At the colorful market of Pisaq,<br />

peruse locally made goods. Then tour the impressive<br />

Ollantaytambo fortress ruins, featuring terraces<br />

carved into the hillside and a crowning temple<br />

designed for worship and astronomical observation.<br />

Day 13<br />

MACHU PICCHU<br />

Board the famous Orient Express Hiram Bingham<br />

train for Machu Picchu. A tour guide will lead you<br />

Then enjoy afternoon tea at the exclusive Hotel<br />

Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge before you return<br />

LIMA<br />
