ACTRESS Kavita Kaushik is coming
back to work her magic as
Inspector Chandramukhi Chautala
in popular show F.I.R. and she is
mighty excited to experiment with interesting
stunts and action scenes.
The actress, known for her bindaas
style and excellent comic timing
as the Haryanvi police oficer, had left
the show earlier this year after being
a key part of it for seven years.
Speaking of her comeback, Kavita
said: "I feel like I've come back to my
friends. In fact, everyone around me
is so excited and kicked. My entry
into the show has also been planned
really well, with action sequences
and stunts."
Kavita is "certain that the viewers
are going to thoroughly enjoy watching
the show as I continue to entertain
them in a dhamakedaar andaaz."
During her time away from F.I.R.,
she was seen in Tota Weds Maina, another
comic show on the same channel,
SAB TV.
Kavita was replaced by Chitrashi
Rawat of Chak De! India fame. The
show took a 20-year leap and Chitrashi
played Jwalamukhi Chautala,
daughter of Chandramukhi Chautala.
Kavita received Zee Gold Awards
for Best Comic Actor (Female). Later
she won Indian Telly Award for Best
Actor In A Comic Role

life she is not in favour of
chasing guys.
"I am not in the favour of
a girl running after a guy. My
traditional thinking is that
a guy should pursue irst,"
Roop said on the set of the
show.
"Personally also I would
never run after a guy. A guy
should always pursue the
girl," she added.
Balika Vadhu, which
comes on Colors, is currently
focusing on Sanchi's love life. She has told her
family that she loves Jagya (played by Shashank
Vyas), Anandi's (Toral Rasputra) ex-husband,
which has heightened the drama in the popular
show.
Meanwhile, Jagya is unaware of Sanchi's feelings
for him.
"If I would have been the writer of the show,
I would have never written that because as a
girl I myself feel awkward that I am running
after a guy," said Roop, who has been part of
shows like Shama, C.I.D. and Babosa — Mere
Bhagwan and Baalveer.
Vir to add 'madness' to IIFA: Stand-up comedian
and actor Vir Das is looking forward to
"Punjabify" the forthcoming International Indian
Film Academy (IIFA) weekend and awards
in Macau, along with his Santa Banta co-star
Boman Irani.
Vir and Boman will host the Grey Goose IIFA
Rocks, a music and fashion event, on day two of
the Bollywood extravaganza, which starts on
July 4. They will also host a media brieing on
the irst day of the event.
Vir is excited about the whole affair.
"I think that IIFA is a great and sophisticated
institution. That all needs to change. I'm looking
forward to bringing some madness, misbehav-
iour and eventual apologies
to this glorious institution.

said Vir.
The IIFA Rocks event will
have ace fashion designers
Shantanu and Nikhil pay
tribute to 100 years of Indian

The main awards extravaganza
will be held on July 6

Salman his own man: Arbaaz: Salman
Khan, one of Hindi ilm industry’s commercially
most successful actor, completes his silver jubilee
in Bollywood this year. His younger brother,
actor-ilm-maker Arbaaz Khan says Salman’s
own decisions have helped his career to lourish
all through the years.
“Salman has had a lourishing career by
making his own decisions,” Arbaaz told reporters
at the launch of Gillete Fusion Power.
Arbaaz says it’s not wise to pinpoint the failures
in one’s career.
“Normally, most decisions you take may be
right, but sometimes, you take the decisions
that fail, like in between you do the ilms that
don’t work. But that doesn’t matter! The average
matters.”
“Like in cricket, you have the average score.
So, same way in ilms, if you have done 10 ilms,
it matters depending how many of them have
been liked by the audiences, and have been successful,”
he added.
Talking about Salman’s career in speciic, the
45-year-old said: “If you see Salman’s career
graph, you will see that most of his ilms have
worked, done well and that’s why he is at this

The Heat — a lukewarm frothy potboiler movie
CONVENTIONALLY speaking,
the buddy cop movie is the
domain of men. The formula
here is nothing new. You have seen
it many times before, but the pairing
of Sandra Bullock and Melissa
McCarthy is what makes you warm
up to The Heat.
While hedging for a promotion,
the prudish FBI Special Agent from
New York, Sarah Ashburn (Sandra
Bullock), a methodical investigator
with a reputation for showmanship
and arrogance, is forced to partner
Boston street-level oficer Shannon
Mullins (Melisa McCarthy) to track
down a drug lord before his next
big shipment comes in.
What keeps you amused is to
see how the straight-laced Ashburn
deals with a foul-mouthed, uncouth
Mullins, especially when they start
off on the wrong foot. What follows
is that Ashburn gets a directive to
allow Mullins' involvement in her
case and neither is initially pleased.
However, Ashburn's buttonedup
tactics paired with Mullins' penchant
for gun waving unite the two
in a reluctant mutual respect. Then
slowly, in a formulaic process, they
bond over drinks, family matters,
passion and commitment towards
their job.
With a variation in the plot
points and set-ups, there is nothing
that you've never witnessed
before, but it's how it is presented
that makes you chuckle. It's the ine
moments of slapstick comedy that
sticks out in phases. And one such
moment is how Shannon deals with
her undertrials and plays Russian
roulette to extract information.
The stake is high, and the moment
priceless. It keeps you in splits.
The chemistry between Bullock
and McCarthy is what brings the
her happiness.
"Later, when Joe and I were discussing about
who should play the mother's character, we both
took mum's name. It's as if we were thinking on
the same wavelength. My mother is my lucky
charm and I'm happy she is part of my irst
Bollywood ilm," Tanuj said in a statement.
Distributed by Viacom 18 Media, and co-produced
by Harvey India Productions and Odyssey
Corporation India, the ilm will release on July
26.
Dolly scouts for characters: After doing
Vicky Donor and Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Dolly
Ahluwalia is keen to play real characters on the
screen as she cannot be artiicial.
“As an actor I can’t draw lines. I take up every
project as a challenge, but the character has to
be real. I enjoy doing real characters. I cannot be
artiicial. When I speak of being real, the script
has to touch me deep inside,” Ahluwalia said.
After her role, she gives importance to the director
and co-actors.
“Once the script is there, then the director
matters and co-actors too... if I am giving the best,
then the other person should be able to receive
it well. It is a give and take relationship,” she explained.
Her next is Bajatey Raho. The ilm is directed
by Shashant A Shah and it also stars Vinay
Pathak, Ranvir Shorey, Tusshar, Vishakha Singh
and Ravi Kishan and is coming out on July 26.

on the other hand, with her
restrained onscreen personality,
is used as a foil character that ups
McCarthy's presence. All the others
in the cast, though they performed
well, were only doing their part.
None had "their" moment of glory.
Kattie Dippold's script is lukewarm
and does not gather momentum
to give a boiling point.
The dialogues are staid. The gags,
especially the Mullins' family gettogether
scene seemed very obligatory
and forced, so did the escapade
hungama.
Coming from director Paul Feig,
who had previously given us the
fabulous Oscar nominated Bridesmaids,
The Heat, with its odd-couple-cops
and a vague drug-bust

The Hunger Games
ACTRESS Julianne Moore has been reportedly
approached to be part of The Hunger
Games: Mockingjay, the inal, two-part
ilm in the Hunger Games franchise.
The 52-year-old is offered to play manipulative
President Alma Coin in the big screen adaptation
of author Suzanne Collins' novel Mockingjay,
reports deadline.com. If Moore agrees
to play the offered role, she will share screen
space with Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth
and Jennifer Lawrence among others.
Julianne made her ilm debut in 1990, and
continued to play supporting roles throughout
the early 1990s. She made her breakthrough
with Robert Altman’s Short Cuts, followed by
critically acclaimed performances in Vanya
on 42nd Street and Safe. Starring roles in the
blockbusters Nine Months and The Lost World:
Jurassic Park subsequently established her as a
leading actress in Hollywood.
Selena, Austin 'just friends'
SINGER Selena Gomez and Austin Mahone
have been linked romantically, but a source
says they are merely good friends, who "have a
lot of fun together".
Selena, 20, has been linked to the 17-yearold
singer following her split from Justin Bieber.
But sources close to them insist the duo are
simply close friends, reports contactmusic.com.
"They're really good friends and have a lot of
fun together,” said a source.
Gomez recently ended her on-and-off relationship
with Bieber once and for all after he
was spotted hanging out with Miley Cyrus, who
is engaged to Liam Hemsworth.
Gomez irst made her debut appearing as
Gianna in Barney & Friends, lasting from 2002
to 2004. Following this, Gomez had cameo roles
in ilms such as Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over and
Walker, Texas Ranger: Trial by Fire.
In 2006, Gomez appeared as a guest star
on an episode of the Disney Channel series
The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, as well as Hannah
Montana. Following this, Gomez starred in
the Disney Channel television series Wizards
of Waverly Place. The series was a critical and
commercial success, earning Gomez numerous
awards and nominations.
Adele gets 'Paradise' tattoo
SINGER Adele has had the word 'Paradise'
tattooed on her left hand. She has got herself
inked by renowned tattooist Bang Bang, reports
contactmusic.com.
Bang Bang posted a photograph of the
Grammy Award winner launting the new body
art, on social networking site Facebook, with
the caption: "The lovely Adele came in to get
tattooed today."
The Skyfall hitmaker already has the letter
'A' inked behind her right ear. It is said to be a
mark of tribute to her baby boy Angelo, whom
she gave birth to last year.
Adele was offered a recording contract from
XL Recordings after a friend posted her demo
