Contiki cares...
We travel to experience the wonders that our world has
to offer, be they natural or cultural, & we’re committed
to ensuring they remain for the generations to come.
Through our various causes we put conservation at
the core of how we plan & run our tours. There are also a
bunch of ways that you can help as well.
Our Foundation
We’re founding partners
of the non-profit
Conservation Foundation.
Our coaches
We want you
to see the
world. But we
also want to
look after it.
Our Foundation has spent over
US$2 million to help
underprivileged communities &
support sustainable tourism around
the world. It’s part of its
commitment to preserving our
planet for generations to come (so
far, the Foundation has helped
protect 3 million hectares of forest
in Brazil, supported the World
Wildlife Fund’s work with
indigenous sustainable tourism in
Australia, plus much more).
What’s more, we’re committed to
continuing with this support for
sustainable tourism for years to
come. We’re the primary sponsors
of The Tourism for Tomorrow
Awards –
encouraging
tourism operators
to develop &
share sustainable
tourism practices
around the world.
Recycling
The Travel Corporation &
Contiki are committed to
use 100% recycled paper
for the body stock of all
our brochures.
The environmental benefits are
important in the following ways:
By using paper made from recycled
fibre we save approximately.
90,000 trees per year.*
Recycled paper makes for less
waste being deposited into landfills.
The paper mill uses a chlorine free
fibre bleaching process (PCF) that
avoids potential dioxins from being
released into adjoining waterways.
The paper mill uses a complex
filtration process that returns the river
Coach travel has been proven to reduce congestion & CARBON EMISSIONS GRID
cause less pollution per passenger kilometre than any
other transportation option. Like in Europe Contiki’s coach
fleet is among the most efficient on the continent &
Method of
travel
Kg of CO2 per passenger km
complies with EU emissions standards V & VI. The Travel Car 0.2028 kgs
Corporation participates in Smart Move, an initiative
promoting the greater use of coaches’ worldwide &
possible reductions of CO2 emissions by at least 50 million
** Car assumes national UK average of 1.5 people per car. *** Assumes average of 36 passengers.
water in a cleaner state than initially
received.
The use of 100% recovered fibre
means that the mill uses approx
1/5th of the energy that would be
required to produce corresponding
grades from primary fibres.
The body stock paper in our
brochures meets the following
Forest/Environmental/Process
Certifications: FSC, Blue Angel,
ISO 9001 & 14001.
We are proud to commit to using
what is one of the most
environmentally friendly coated
recycled papers on Planet Earth.
