Medical Center Campus
The Cedars-Sinai Medical Center main campus, encompassing nearly 24 acres, is located
at the intersection of the city of Los Angeles and the cities of Beverly Hills and West
Hollywood. The campus features the following: the North and South Towers, Barbara and
Marvin Davis Research Building, Thalians Mental Health Center, Mark Goodson Building,
Outpatient Services Building, Fashion Industries Guild Florence and “Duke” Becker
Building, Steven Spielberg Pediatric Research Center, Suzanne and David Saperstein
Critical Care Tower, Harvey S. Morse Conference Center, and the S. Mark Taper
Foundation Imaging Center. These buildings, with their 1.75 million square feet of available
space, provide inpatient acute care and outpatient services to the surrounding
communities.

Our Community
Cedars-Sinai serves the Los Angeles County
market area – with almost 10 million people. Our
primary service area, comprising some 3.2
million people, represents approximately 75
percent of Cedars-Sinai’s total inpatient
discharges. In addition to the Los Angeles
community, Cedars-Sinai offers comprehensive
services for international patients through our
International Health Services program.
Committed to providing excellent medical care and advancing the state of medicine at an
accelerated pace, Cedars-Sinai has assembled a world-class team of physicians,
researchers, nurses and clinicians armed with the resources and leading technology to
make extraordinary strides in research and care. Cedars-Sinai provides quality, leadingedge

In addition to these services, Cedars-Sinai has consolidated the talents of patient care
specialists and internationally recognized researchers around dedicated specialty centers,
including:
Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer Institute, one of the largest centers of
its kind in Southern California, is staffed by more than 400 physicians and scientists who
are dedicated to the treatment of adult and pediatric cancer patients. The institute
comprises an integrated, multidisciplinary team of medical oncologists, hematologists,
surgical oncologists, gynecologic oncologists, radiation oncologists and psychiatrists, as
well as other clinical support staff. The array of services includes specialty centers for
brain, breast, colon/rectal, head and neck, kidney and bladder, lymphoma, leukemia, liver,
lung, pancreatic, prostate, sarcoma, skull base, spine and women’s cancers. The Cedars-
Sinai Outpatient Cancer Center, part of the Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer
Institute, provides outpatient support 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This service

allows patients flexibility in scheduling their cancer
therapy to minimize interruptions in their daily lives.

Burns and Allen
Research Institute
Biomedical research is a major component of Cedars-Sinai’s
mission and is critical to our commitment of maintaining
excellence in patient care. Cedars-Sinai is currently conducting
more than 600 research projects through the Burns and Allen
Research Institute. These projects encompass basic,
translational, clinical and health services research and cover the
entire spectrum of disease investigation, including molecular
genetics, biochemical analysis and disease-based areas such as
cancer, cardiovascular and neurosciences.
The Board of Governors Gene Therapeutics
Research Institute is a state-of-the-art program that enhances
Cedars-Sinai’s current strength in genetics, cell and molecular
biology, cell signaling and immunology, and will generate direct
patient care benefits. The EISNER Program for Cardiovascular
Research at Cedars-Sinai integrates the imaging (EBT and
nuclear cardiology), cardiac surgery, preventive cardiology and
basic cardiology aspects of heart research.
The Board of Governors Center for Cancer
Research conducts advanced research into cancers of the
lung, brain, prostate, pancreas, breast, vone and hematologic and
gastrointestinal systems as well as melanoma and other forms of
the disease. The center is the integral research arm of the
Samuel Oschin Comprehensive Cancer Institute.
The Maxine Dunitz Neurosurgical Institute’s research
teams are studying tumors from several perspectives. Currently
their focus is on collecting new insights into the genetic,
molecular and immune system mechanisms at work in brain
tumor growth. The long-range target is prevention and correcting
the conditions that enable cancer cells to grow. The Medical
Genetics Institute is a world-renowned, multidisciplinary
outpatient center that diagnoses, treats and manages hereditary
disorders and birth defects affecting fetuses, newborns, children,
adolescents and adults. The Women’s Cancer Research
Institute is a multidisciplinary program supported by Cedars-Sinai
Research for Women’s Cancers. Experts here foster
collaborative research between scientists and physicians to bring
the most innovative discoveries directly to women with breast
and gynecologic cancers.
The Winnick Family Clinical Research Center serves as
a hub for all clinical research activity at Cedars-Sinai. A primary
component is the General Clinical Research Center, which is
part of a nationwide network of 80 centers that receive funding
from the National Institutes of Health to further clinical and
translational research. The Winnick Family Clinical Research
Center also supports training and mentoring programs, research
awards and state-of-the-art laboratories and information systems.
Extramural funding for the Burns and Allen Research Institute
grew to $52 million in 2004 with 47% of this amount being
awarded by the National Institutes of Health. Cedars-Sinai
scientists had 9 licensed technologies producing $18 million in
royalties for 2004. Areas of research excellence include
women’s cancers, prostate cancer, neurosciences, cardiology,
oncology, medical genetics, gastroenterology, pulmonary
medicine, diabetes, endocrinology, organ transplantation,
women’s health, ophthalmology, nuclear imaging and health
services research.

Cedars-Sinai’s Ambulatory Care Center provides preventive,
acute and ongoing primary care to a diverse patient population.

Outreach
Cedars-Sinai's Community Education and Outreach Programs
serve more than 200,000 people each year through various
services, educational programs, screenings, ongoing community
events, clinics, support groups and health fairs. Between these
programs, free and part-pay care for the uninsured and those
with limited means, and the unpaid costs of government
programs, Cedars-Sinai contributes more than $100 million in

Health Professional
Education
Cedars-Sinai has affiliation agreements with
UCLA, CSU Los Angeles and multiple community
colleges to provide on-site nursing and health
professional education. The Medical Center also
offers an on-site collaborative baccalaureate and
master’s program in nursing with CSU Los
Angeles. The student assistant program allows
nursing students to gain work experience and
increased clinical skills under the mentorship of
Cedars-Sinai nurses.
Medical Education
Cedars-Sinai is a major teaching hospital affiliated
with the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA.
There are currently 310 residents and clinical fellows
at the Medical Center. Cedars-Sinai supports
residency programs in Diagnostic Imaging (Radiology
and Nuclear Medicine), Medicine, Obstetrics and
Gynecology, Pathology and Laboratory Medicine,
Pediatrics and Genetics, Physical Medicine and

Medical Network
Cedars-Sinai Medical Network is an important
part of Cedars-Sinai’s mission to have a presence
in the community. Launched in 1994, the Medical
Network is comprised of:
Cedars-Sinai Medical Group, Inc. (CSMG),
a 75-member group of primary care and
specialty physicians with five multispecialty
medical offices in Beverly Hills and Los
Angeles
Cedars-Sinai Health Associates (CSHA), a
network of over 750 individual physicians
with independent offices throughout Los
Angeles
Cedars-Sinai Medical Care Foundation, a
nonprofit organization that provides
management support for CSMG and CSHA

Cedars-Sinai Is Consumers’
Choice in Southern California
Cedars-Sinai Medical Center was again named in an independent survey as Southern California’s “gold
standard” in healthcare. The 2004 survey, conducted by the National Research Corporation (NRC),
asked Los Angeles residents to name the hospital in the greater Los Angeles area that they rate the
highest in quality and image categories including: Best Overall Quality, Best Image and Reputation,
Most Personalized Care, Best Doctors, Best Nurses and Most Preferred for All Health Needs.
Cedars-Sinai has received NRC’s Consumer Choice Award every year since the award program’s
inception.
The NRC, which specializes in healthcare performance measurement, rates hospitals annually in every
major market in the United States. Due to the high marks received from thousands of individuals in Los
Angeles, San Gabriel Valley and the San Fernando Valley, Cedars-Sinai has consistently surpassed
others in key areas.

Cedars-Sinai Medical Center’s campus is located at
8700 Beverly Blvd. in Los Angeles, California. It is
bordered to the east by San Vicente Boulevard, to
the south by Third Street and to the west by Robertson
Boulevard.
From the Santa Monica Freeway (10), exit at
La Cienega Boulevard. Proceed north to the
Medical Center, just north of Third Street.
From the Hollywood Freeway (101), exit at Highland
Avenue. Proceed south to Beverly Boulevard. Turn
right, and proceed to the Medical Center at San Vicente
Boulevard. Turn left.
