Designed for those who wish to upgrade their<br />
skills or pursue a career in the fast growing eld <strong>of</strong><br />
Crisis Intervention. Program courses will focus on<br />
the theoretical and practical basis for accurately<br />
assessing and responding to a variety <strong>of</strong> crises.<br />
Upon completion <strong>of</strong> the four courses, students will<br />

This program provides a speci c focus on the<br />
knowledge, skills and techniques that are<br />
recognized as being fundamental to work in<br />
the addictions eld. It is intended for those<br />
individuals wishing to further advance knowledge<br />
in current developments in the eld. Delivery is<br />
well suited to individuals currently employed or<br />
entering employment in an addictions related<br />

are varied to allow students to use di erent learning<br />
strategies to master what they have learned. Role play,<br />
used to contextualize and give meaning to speci c<br />
functions presents students with common deaf-hearing<br />
situations and allow them to rehearse the appropriate/<br />

E ective Jan. 15, 2007, 100% <strong>of</strong> all new hires for the<br />
position <strong>of</strong> Food Service Worker to be employed by<br />
the Nutrition and Food Services/Dietary Department<br />
in all Long Term Care homes will be required to<br />
have completed the Food Service Worker training<br />
program or be enrolled in a FSW training program<br />
o ered by an established college as listed in the<br />
Ontario <strong>College</strong>s <strong>of</strong> Applied Arts and Technology Act,<br />

This training program gives liquor servers information<br />
they need to understand and implement the skills <strong>of</strong><br />
responsible service. Upon completion, servers will be<br />
able to recognize the signs <strong>of</strong> intoxication; know their<br />
responsibilities and obligations under the law; how to<br />
create a hospitable environment by promoting<br />
non-alcoholic beverages and food, and encouraging<br />
alternative transportation. This program is the only<br />
course approved by the Alcohol and Gaming Commission<br />
<strong>of</strong> Ontario.<br />

WELDING TECHNOLOGY (WELD-2001)<br />

This course will be a combination <strong>of</strong> technique and<br />
hands-on learning from basic to advanced level. Your<br />
course <strong>of</strong> study will depend on your skill level. SMAW,<br />
GMAW and GTAW processes will be covered as well<br />
as pipe welding. Upon completion <strong>of</strong> the course,<br />
students will be eligible to test for welding tickets as<br />
per TSSA, based on their level <strong>of</strong> expertise.<br />
NOTE: Students must provide their own gloves, safety<br />
boots, safety glasses, pliers, chipping hammer and<br />
welding helmet.<br />

Audit Status<br />
Students who register in a graded course but do not wish to complete assignments,<br />
write tests or exams, or receive a grade, must declare their audit status to their<br />
instructor the rst night <strong>of</strong> class and complete the appropriate form.<br />
Course Cancellation<br />
Full refunds will be issued if the <strong>College</strong> cancels a course or workshop because <strong>of</strong><br />
insu cient registrations.<br />
Course Prerequisites<br />
Prerequisites are listed with each course description and you must complete these<br />
requirements prior to registration. Course credit may be granted based on education<br />
and/or training.<br />
Course Fees/Income Tax<br />
Payment for course fees can be made by cash, cheque, money order, VISA,<br />
MasterCard or Interac. We do not accept post-dated cheques. Tuition fees may be<br />
tax deductible and students are advised to retain their receipt. T2202A forms may<br />
be printed from the college website for eligible courses in February. Tax forms will<br />
not be mailed.<br />
Late Registration<br />
Registrations may be accepted up to the start <strong>of</strong> the second class for most courses.<br />
Waiting Lists<br />
If you apply for a course which is lled, ask to have your name added to the waiting<br />
list in the event a vacancy occurs.<br />
Graduation<br />
Graduation ceremonies are held each year in November. The divisions do not track<br />
each student individually and therefore it is the responsibility <strong>of</strong> the student to<br />
advise their division when they are in the nal course <strong>of</strong> a program.<br />
Refund Policy<br />
1. Upon request, a student will be issued a partial refund if they withdraw from a<br />
course no later than the refund deadline. The refund will be less an administration<br />
charge <strong>of</strong> $23/$32, plus HST where applicable.<br />
2. The administration fee <strong>of</strong> $23, plus HST where applicable, will be charged for<br />
withdrawals and transfers; a fee <strong>of</strong> $32 will be charged for credit courses only.<br />
3. Full refunds will be issued for courses cancelled by the <strong>College</strong>.<br />
4. There will be no refunds for courses with fees <strong>of</strong> $23 or less.<br />
5. Short courses, workshops, computer and on-line distance learning and selfstudy<br />
courses have speci c deadlines for refunds, typically seven days before<br />
the start <strong>of</strong> the rst scheduled class. Please note the symbol associated with<br />
each course to determine which withdrawal date is applicable.<br />

Financial Assistance for Part-Time Students<br />
If you register in a Ministry approved credit course, diploma or certi cate program,<br />
nancial assistance may be available to those who qualify. Inquire at the Financial<br />
Aid O ce, 519-452-4280 concerning Canada Student Loan, Ontario Special Bursary<br />
and <strong>Fanshawe</strong> <strong>College</strong> Student Assistance Bursary.<br />
Students with Disabilities<br />

Student Withdrawal<br />
Upon written request, a student in a graded course may withdraw from the course<br />
without academic penalty by a deadline date representing 70% <strong>of</strong> the course<br />
duration. For courses 12 hours or less in length, the student must withdraw one<br />
week prior to the start date. The student’s academic transcript will display a “W”<br />
grade for the course. Forward requests to the Continuing Education o ce. Failure<br />
to withdraw before this date will result in a “F” grade.<br />
Text Books<br />
Text books will be available for purchase the rst class night <strong>of</strong> your course.<br />
Grades<br />
For graded courses, your nal grade will be available on WebAdvisor . Final grades<br />
will be not be automatically mailed out.<br />
Transcripts<br />
Students can view nal course marks for graded courses on WebAdvisor, through<br />
the <strong>Fanshawe</strong> <strong>College</strong> web site. For help with logging on to this site, please call the<br />
Student Helpdesk at 519-452-4478. Students who require a formal transcript may<br />
request it in writing or in person through the O ce <strong>of</strong> the Registrar at 519-452-<br />
4277.<br />
Postponed Classes Due to Weather<br />
In the event <strong>of</strong> inclement weather, postponement <strong>of</strong> classes will be announced on<br />
