The deputy assigned to the Child Support Unit is a grant funded posi on and is currently staff ed by Master Deputy Kent Mar n. Master Deputy Mar n is aided in his eff orts by Ms. Carol Amoss, who serves as a grant funded part me administra ve assistant. Court Security Sec on The Court Security Unit is responsible for providing security in the Carroll C County Circuit Court facili es as well as maintaining custody aand supervision of prisoners a ending all judicial proceedings. This Maryland cons tu onal mandate is fulfi lled through the eff orts of tthe 15 depu es and court security offi cers assigned to the Court SSecurity Unit. The Unit also administers the court holding facility in tthe District Court. Included in the overall responsibili es for the Unit Sgt. Tom Hoff a is maintaining the integrity of court proceedings and ensuring the security of judges, jurors and other individuals par cipa ng in the judicial process. The Unit is ably supervised by Sergeant Thomas Hoff a. His dedica on to duty and commitment was recognized by Sheriff Tregoning when Sergeant Hoff a was chosen as the 2012 Deputy of the Year, a stellar achievement. All personnel assigned to the Court Security Unit receive specialized training in every aspect of their assignment, to include opera on of the prisoner holding facili es, handcuffi ng procedures, handling prisoners and unruly persons, searches and court proceedings. All Court Security Unit members also a end specifi c related in-service training courses with sworn police personnel. The following personnel were assigned to the Court Security Unit in 2012: Sergeant Thomas Hoff a, Master Deputy Michael Bunn, Master Deputy Douglas Carr, Master Deputy Robert Letmate and Court Security Offi cers Ronnie Blacksten, William Bair, Dino Minoglio, Jeff rey Myers, John Thomas, Robert Toms, Frederick Bohn, Perry Lyons, Robert Knechtel, Oscar Daugherty and Hope Bass. 35
