<strong>Graduation</strong> Deadlines<br />

1) Filing for C<strong>and</strong>idacy/<strong>Graduation</strong>:<br />

Complete the Online <strong>Graduation</strong> Application with the Office <strong>of</strong> the University Registrar at<br />

http://registrar.ucdavis.edu/graduation/ , or in person in room <strong>12</strong> Mrak Hall.<br />

**Please note that filing for graduation DOES NOT register you for walking in the commencement<br />

ceremony. Please complete step # 2 if you would like to participate in the commencement ceremony.<br />

2) Participation in the Commencement Ceremony:<br />

**(walking in the ceremony does not equal degree completion, see above regarding filing for<br />

c<strong>and</strong>idacy/graduation). To participate in the ceremony you must apply online at<br />

www.caes.ucdavis.edu/commencement. You can also access this information through the Registrar<br />

website <strong>list</strong>ed above.**note: you may only walk in the commencement ceremony ONCE. Summer <strong>and</strong><br />

Fall c<strong>and</strong>idates should participate in the December ceremony. Winter <strong>and</strong> Spring c<strong>and</strong>idates should<br />

participate in the June ceremony.<br />

3) Major Certification:<br />

Make an appointment with your major/faculty advisor to sign the Major Certification by the 10 th day <strong>of</strong> the quarter in<br />

which you plan to graduate. Your major will submit this form to the Dean’s Office for final evaluation.<br />

♦ Minor Program Petition:<br />

1. Complete an <strong>of</strong>ficial Minor Program Petition.<br />

2. Obtain a signature from your faculty or major advisor.<br />

3. Obtain your minor advisor’s signature.<br />

4. Submit the completed Minor Program Petition to the CA&ES Dean’s Office (150 Mrak Hall) no later<br />

than the 10 th day <strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong> the quarter in which you plan to graduate.<br />

♦ Other Important Issues:<br />

Incomplete grades must be completed by the last day <strong>of</strong> finals, if needed for graduation. A grade<br />

change petition can be obtained from the Office <strong>of</strong> the University Registrar; the student must give this<br />

to the instructor to facilitate the grade change.<br />

All pending transfer work must be submitted by specific deadlines in the quarter you will graduate.<br />

Contact the Dean’s Office for further information.<br />

Three - Four (approx.) Quarters Before <strong>Graduation</strong>:<br />

<strong>Graduation</strong> <strong>Check</strong><strong>list</strong><br />

If you plan to change your major, do it now! You cannot change/declare your major the same<br />

quarter in which you file to graduate.<br />

(see “change <strong>of</strong> major” in the Academic Information section <strong>of</strong> the General Catalog)<br />

If you haven’t already – start using the Internship <strong>and</strong> Career Center located in South Hall. Prepare<br />

your resumé <strong>and</strong> sharpen your interviewing skills or obtain information regarding requirements <strong>and</strong><br />

exams necessary to apply for graduate <strong>and</strong> pr<strong>of</strong>essional schools.<br />

Two Quarters Before <strong>Graduation</strong>:<br />

Request a preliminary degree check from the Dean’s <strong>of</strong>fice. You can access this form on the<br />

college website at http://www.aes.ucdavis.edu/StudInfo/Advising/prelim_degree_check.pdf<br />

or request the form in person in 150 Mrak Hall<br />

The Dean’s Office does not complete preliminary degree checks for students during<br />

the quarter in which they are filed to graduate.<br />

<strong>Check</strong> with your major department to make sure you have met all your major requirements<br />

Make sure you have submitted all <strong>of</strong> your <strong>of</strong>ficial transcripts for transfer coursework to the Office <strong>of</strong><br />

Undergraduate Admissions<br />

One Quarter Before <strong>Graduation</strong>:<br />

Make final plans for any minors<br />

Make final plans to complete “Incomplete” grades<br />

Quarter <strong>of</strong> <strong>Graduation</strong>:<br />

Confirm your addresses on SISWEB <strong>and</strong> with the Office <strong>of</strong> the University Registrar.<br />

Note - Diplomas are available for pick up at the Office <strong>of</strong> the University Registrars in <strong>12</strong> Mrak Hall<br />

at no charge, approximately four to six months after the end <strong>of</strong> the quarter for which you filed to<br />

graduate. To arrange to have your diploma mailed to you once it becomes available please contact<br />
