Graduation Deadlines
1) Filing for Candidacy/Graduation:
Complete the Online Graduation Application with the Office of the University Registrar at
http://registrar.ucdavis.edu/graduation/ , or in person in room 12 Mrak Hall.
**Please note that filing for graduation DOES NOT register you for walking in the commencement
ceremony. Please complete step # 2 if you would like to participate in the commencement ceremony.

2) Participation in the Commencement Ceremony:
**(walking in the ceremony does not equal degree completion, see above regarding filing for
candidacy/graduation). To participate in the ceremony you must apply online at
www.caes.ucdavis.edu/commencement. You can also access this information through the Registrar
website listed above.**note: you may only walk in the commencement ceremony ONCE. Summer and
Fall candidates should participate in the December ceremony. Winter and Spring candidates should
participate in the June ceremony.

3) Major Certification:
Make an appointment with your major/faculty advisor to sign the Major Certification by the 10 th day of the quarter in
which you plan to graduate. Your major will submit this form to the Dean’s Office for final evaluation.
♦ Minor Program Petition:
1. Complete an official Minor Program Petition.
2. Obtain a signature from your faculty or major advisor.
3. Obtain your minor advisor’s signature.
4. Submit the completed Minor Program Petition to the CA&ES Dean’s Office (150 Mrak Hall) no later
than the 10 th day of of the quarter in which you plan to graduate.
♦ Other Important Issues:
Incomplete grades must be completed by the last day of finals, if needed for graduation. A grade
change petition can be obtained from the Office of the University Registrar; the student must give this
to the instructor to facilitate the grade change.
All pending transfer work must be submitted by specific deadlines in the quarter you will graduate.

Three - Four (approx.) Quarters Before Graduation:
Graduation Checklist
If you plan to change your major, do it now! You cannot change/declare your major the same
quarter in which you file to graduate.
(see “change of major” in the Academic Information section of the General Catalog)
If you haven’t already – start using the Internship and Career Center located in South Hall. Prepare
your resumé and sharpen your interviewing skills or obtain information regarding requirements and
exams necessary to apply for graduate and professional schools.
Two Quarters Before Graduation:
Request a preliminary degree check from the Dean’s office. You can access this form on the
college website at http://www.aes.ucdavis.edu/StudInfo/Advising/prelim_degree_check.pdf
or request the form in person in 150 Mrak Hall
The Dean’s Office does not complete preliminary degree checks for students during
the quarter in which they are filed to graduate.
Check with your major department to make sure you have met all your major requirements
Make sure you have submitted all of your official transcripts for transfer coursework to the Office of
Undergraduate Admissions
One Quarter Before Graduation:
Make final plans for any minors

Place cap & gown rental orders with the UCD Bookstore: www.bookstore.ucdavis.edu/graduation
Make final plans to complete “Incomplete” grades
Quarter of Graduation:
Confirm your addresses on SISWEB and with the Office of the University Registrar.
Note - Diplomas are available for pick up at the Office of the University Registrars in 12 Mrak Hall
at no charge, approximately four to six months after the end of the quarter for which you filed to
graduate. To arrange to have your diploma mailed to you once it becomes available please contact
