Downtown Perrysburg Inc. to present youth
summer theater production of ‘William’s Window’
Downtown Perrysburg,
Inc. (DPI) will present the
2013 Comedy/Drama Session
of youth summer theater.
The five-week theater camp
begins on June 17 and runs
through July 19. The program
concludes with the production
of “William’s
Window” on July 17 and 18,
in the Commodore Building
Juliet Beck Auditorium.
Class sessions will run
Monday through Friday,
from 1 to 4 p.m., at the Juliet
Beck Theater in the Commodore
Building.
“We hope that the hours
this summer will enable students
who are doing other activities
or taking summer
gym in the mornings to participate
in the comedy/drama
session in the afternoon,”
said John Henzler, co-director.

deadline is June 1.
The five-week session is
open to residents of Perrysburg
School District ($125)
as well as non-residents
($145) for ages 10-17.
The session has a capacity
of 30 students, and registration
will be based upon the
first 30 applications.
This is the ninth summer
season that Elizabeth Emmert
and her husband, John
Henzler, have co-directed the
Youth Summer Theater’s
Comedy/Drama sessions.
All revenues associated
with the comedy/drama session
and the production of
“William’s Window,” such
as student tuition, sponsorships,
program ads and
ticket sales, will be directed
to defray camp expenses
such as scripts, royalties,
printing, sets and costumes
and other production costs.
“We hope that businesses
and individuals will come
forward to help support this
year’s comedy/drama session
by purchasing program ads
and making tax-deductible
contributions to Downtown
Perrysburg, Inc. for the
camp, since DPI ‘adopted’
the camp recently after the
Perrysburg Area Arts Council
dissolved–and after DPI had
established its budget for the

Veterans honored at Perrysburg Commons event
Perrysburg Commons retirement center and Hospice of Northwest Ohio teamed up to
recognize veterans at a special event on May 10, at Perrysburg Commons. All residents
of the facility who are military veterans, and their families, were invited to a special veterans’
pinning ceremony, a patriotic-themed performance of the Tappers dance group
and refreshments.
“So many of our residents are veterans or spouses of deceased veterans; any time we
have the chance to honor and thank them, it is a privilege,” said Sue Snoddy, admissions
and marketing coordinator for Perrysburg Commons.
“Through the national ‘We Honor Vets’ program, we regularly recognize our patients
who are veterans–as well as other veterans in the community–with a certificate and special
pin,” said Judy Seibenick, executive director for Hospice of Northwest Ohio, “ It is
extremely meaningful to them and their families and often elicits conversation and stories
that are shared for the first time. It is a very moving experience, and we are thrilled
there were so many veterans present at Perrysburg Commons.”
