Patrol is reminding drivers to<br />

keep <strong>the</strong>ir eyes and focus on<br />

From 2009 to 2011 <strong>the</strong>re<br />

were 31,231 crashes that were<br />

caused by distracted driving<br />

in Ohio. Seventy-four <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong>se crashes ended in a death<br />

and 7,825 included injuries.<br />

Distracted driving is any<br />

non-driving activity a person<br />

engages in that has potential<br />

to distract him or her from <strong>the</strong><br />

primary task <strong>of</strong> driving and<br />

increase <strong>the</strong> risk <strong>of</strong> crashing.<br />

–taking eyes <strong>of</strong>f <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> road;<br />

manual–taking hands <strong>of</strong>f <strong>the</strong><br />

wheel, or cognitive–taking<br />

Highway Patrol reminds drivers<br />

to keep <strong>the</strong>ir eyes on <strong>the</strong> road<br />

while driving is an example<br />

that results in all three types<br />

“Every single time someone<br />

takes <strong>the</strong>ir eyes or <strong>the</strong>ir<br />

clubs also gave more than<br />

$7.5 million to support Rotary<br />

International’s annual<br />

program fund over <strong>the</strong> last<br />

decade. This fund supported<br />

philanthropic projects across<br />

more than 177 countries internationally.<br />
