Departments and Organizations<br />
Upon written request or with student authorization and release forms and in accordance with FERPA guidelines, this<br />
<strong>of</strong>fice provides documents and transcripts to students, employers and/or bar associations.<br />
<strong>Student</strong> Organizations<br />
<strong>Cumberland</strong> law students make a positive difference on campus and in the community. Participation in law school<br />
organizations allows students to develop valuable skills that will serve them well after graduation.<br />
Cocurricular Activities: <strong>Student</strong>s can earn up to two academic<br />
credits and gain experience by participating in one <strong>of</strong> <strong>Cumberland</strong>'s two<br />
cocurricular activities. Membership is based on academic achievement<br />
and writing skills.<br />
The <strong>Cumberland</strong> <strong>Law</strong> Review includes articles by legal scholars<br />
and works by students. The review focuses on theoretical<br />
analysis <strong>of</strong> the body <strong>of</strong> the law. <strong>Student</strong>s who are in the top<br />
15 percent <strong>of</strong> the first-year class at the end <strong>of</strong> the year are<br />
invited to submit a case comment.<br />
The American Journal <strong>of</strong> Trial Advocacy is a law review founded in<br />
1977 by the late <strong>Cumberland</strong> Dean Donald E. Corley. The<br />
journal focuses on scholarly analysis <strong>of</strong> litigation practices and<br />
the day-to-day problems and issues experienced by practicing<br />
attorneys.<br />
Extracurricular Activities: <strong>Student</strong>s can make friends and pursue<br />
common interests through participation in one <strong>of</strong> <strong>Cumberland</strong>'s<br />
numerous extracurricular organizations. Many national organizations<br />
have prominent chapters. An organizational fair is held in the fall,<br />
when students can learn about the existing groups and their activities.<br />
