Appendix D: Motor Vehicle Registration and Operation<br />
The inability to find a legal parking space in convenient or specific locations is not justification for violations <strong>of</strong><br />
parking regulations.<br />
$100 Violation<br />
Parking in handicapped space.<br />
Parking in fire lane.<br />
$50 Violation<br />
No decal. Speeding.<br />
Running a stop sign. Failing to stop for pedestrians.<br />
Wrong way on a one way street. Blocking or obstructing traffic.<br />
Driving/parking on grass or sidewalk. Making illegal turn.<br />
Blocking trash dumpster. Parking in reserved space.<br />
Parking in unauthorized color zone.<br />
Parking in unmarked area.<br />
Parking on yellow curb.<br />
$30 Violation<br />
Unsafe vehicle operation.<br />
$25 Violation<br />
Parking in loading/service zone. Visitor/15-minute zone.<br />
$20 Violation<br />
Improperly Displayed Decal.<br />
$15 Violation<br />
Parking on street. Double parking street/lot.<br />
Mutilated or defaced decal.<br />
In addition to payment <strong>of</strong> fines, individuals receiving numerous violations may be subject to losing their parking<br />
privileges on campus. In the event that an individual begin receiving a numerous parking violations the following will<br />
apply:<br />
No Decal: In the event parking services sites a vehicle numerous times for being parked on the campus<br />
without a proper parking decal, on the fourth occasion the vehicle will be tagged with a notice that indicates<br />
future no decal parking violations may result in the vehicle being wheel-locked. Once the wheel-lock is placed<br />
on the vehicle, it will not be removed until the individual purchases a parking decal and pays all subsequent<br />
citations.<br />
Excessive parking violations: A person receiving eight parking or traffic citations within one semester will be<br />
subject to the person’s vehicle being wheel-locked and subject to Code <strong>of</strong> Values violation related to<br />
insubordination. After a fifth parking or traffic citation, within one semester, the individual will be sent a notice<br />
<strong>of</strong> excessive violations. The issuance <strong>of</strong> an eighth parking violation will result in a Code <strong>of</strong> Values violation<br />
being written and the car wheel-locked until after disposition <strong>of</strong> the Values Violation process. Individuals who<br />
continue to receive citations after being written up on a Code <strong>of</strong> Values violation will be subject to losing their<br />
privilege to possess a vehicle on campus.<br />
Sanctions related to excessive violation could include but are not limited to community service, restricted parking<br />
privileges, additional fines, vehicle towing (at the owner’s expense), and disciplinary action.<br />
