Polyflor recycle internationally and have actively supported
Vinyl 2010 and now the Vinyl 2020 Commitment. Following on
from the successful Waste and Resources Action Program (WRAP)
initiative ‘Recycle Your Vinyl Flooring’ - which was a trial for recovering
end of life vinyl flooring, Polyflor is one of two founding members of
Recofloor, the industry funded vinyl take-back scheme.
www.wrap.org.uk
As more people get on board with the Recofloor scheme we will see
even more waste vinyl flooring being recycled and even less going
to landfill. Through the scheme safety flooring off-cuts and smooth
vinyl off-cuts from the installation process will be recycled back into
new flooring. Uplifted, or end-of-life material will be downcycled
into traffic calming products such as traffic cone and road barrier
bases.
For vinyl flooring, between 5% and 10% is typically wasted as off-cuts
on projects, depending on the shape of the area that the flooring is being
laid on. This material would normally be taken away by a waste contractor
and landfilled locally.
Polyflor in Australia and New Zealand recycled 31 tonnes of safety
and smooth vinyl flooring in 2009/2010. If you are an architect, designer,
contractor, builder, government department or specifier in general, in
2011 we require your help to reach our target of recycling 100 tonnes.
Client telephones POLYFLOR in AUSTRALIA: 1800 777 425
or NEW ZEALAND: 0800 425 783 to register interest with Recofloor.
Polyflor will dispatch the recycle bins to client.
When the recycle bins are full, client telephones Polyflor in AUS or NZ
to book a collection.
Alternatively, vinyl flooring waste can be dropped off at one of
15 sites across Aus & NZ. See list of drop-off sites on the back cover.
