Mencap quesstionaire
Tender day opportunities – will be on May's agenda
Theme for today's meeting is on Self assessment
3. Notes from last meeting
Page 4 Bob Marriot was not able to attend today,
he will come along to May's meeting
Page 6 Terms of reference – document was circulated and
membership will be talked about at the next meeting
Page 7 Janita has written to thank Carol and Gary for
their hard work and commitment to the Partnership
Board
Janita had contacted Mia Docker to talk about her
advocacy work supporting parents with learning
disabilities
Zandrea has checked the specific section on
transition/age cut off, there is none to report

4. Information from City Wide
'Our Voice' a training group from Derby unfortunately
cancelled at short notice, so we have not been able to
film anything. Helen read out the City Wide minutes;
April/May - City Wide are having a course called 'Every
Voice Counts' a course being run by the Council of
Disabled People in conjunction with regional projects and
consultations. It has been adapted, making it accessible
to people with learning disability's to attend. It will be
run over two days and attendees will receive a
certificate on completion of course.
There were also some strong messages after City Wide
watched a DVD on the history of learning disability;
• Attending a mainstream school would make you feel
more grown up
• Talk to people with a learning disability for their
opinion
• Day opportunities for younger people would be
beneficial
• Discussion on voting - more than half do go and
vote
Zandrea said that all these will fit nicely and reflect
Community Learning Disability Teams's service plans.
5. Feedback from Carers
Julia found it difficult to get regular
feedback/information from workers within Carer Centre.
Mark clarified what information they should be feeding
back and said systems need to be in place for giving
feedback.

Mary attended the personal assistants conference which
was about how to have more choice and control by
employing your own PA. Mary was very pleased that lots
of carers attended and gave good feedback that they
had found it useful and enjoyed participating in the
event.
6. Update and news from Regional Partnership Board
There was no update. A delivery plan has been
produced if anyone would like a copy contact Janita,
and it can be emailed.
7. Safeguarding Board update
The Safeguarding Board have recently had an away day
to look at priorities for work. It was a very good away
day which gave members the chance to look at
safeguarding from the service users perspective.
The information from the day is available in both
pictures and words.
There has also been a peer review of safeguarding
through IDeA. The initial feedback has been very
positive about the partnership working and energy of
people involved in safeguarding.

8.Self Assessment – checking how we are doing
The board went through the annual report and each
paragraph was discussed. A further smaller meeting was
attended by the people who needed to go through and
sign the self assessment form.
9. Any other Business
Gill went through the mencap questionnaire, which is an
independent survey of partnership boards across the
country. If people would like to complete the
questionnaire this can be done on a paper copy or on line
at mencap.org.uk/campaigns onto questionnaire
