Course Offerings and Grading System: For the 2007–2008 school year, there are 144 course offerings. Students<br />
may earn the advanced studies or standard diploma, modified standard or special diploma. Juniors and seniors may<br />
apply to attend Massanutten Regional Governor’s School.<br />
The grading system is as follows: 94–100 = A, 86–93 = B, 78–85 = C, 70–77 = D, 69 and below = F. Grade Point<br />
Average is computed using all 9–12 grade level courses. The weighting of grades is as follows: A = 4, B = 3, C = 2,<br />
D = 1, F = 0. Honors Level, Advanced Placement and Dual Enrollment courses are weighted as follows: A = 5, B =<br />
4, C = 3, D = 2. Designated weighted academic courses are weighted by applying an additional one-half (.5) quality<br />
point to the value assigned the final grade.<br />

Massanutten Regional Governor’s School subjects (AP Environmental Science, Natural Resource<br />
Management/AgroEcology, Probability and Statistics, AP Calculus, AP English Language and Literature,<br />
Research and Inquiries into Science, and Business and Industry Mentorship) were added to the curriculum<br />
starting with the 2005-2006 school year. All courses are weighted and carry an additional one (1.0) quality<br />
point value.<br />
Weighted credits will not be awarded for courses taken during the summer or for long-term homebound (over<br />
a six-week duration) courses. Weighted courses will be accepted from other school systems. Courses<br />
identified as receiving weighted grades in advanced placement and dual enrollment courses will be considered<br />
when determining Honor Roll, selection to National Honor Society, other academic honors, and class rank.<br />
