FOOD OUTSIDE COMMONS<br />
During the school day students are not to consume food or beverage in the halls. There<br />
are not to be any open food or beverage containers in the halls.<br />
During the school day, only food and beverage items purchased from Luray High School<br />
vending machines may be consumed.<br />
OTHER GENERAL VIOLATIONS THAT ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE IN THE<br />
BUILDING OR NEAR <strong>SCHOOL</strong> GROUNDS<br />
1. Failure to be prepared for class (not having pens, pencils, textbooks, paper and<br />
not dressing out for P.E.,) the following procedures will be accumulated on a<br />
semester basis. (Minimum consequence - 3 rd offense, office referral and<br />
warning; 4 th offense, 2 days After-School-Detention; 7 th offense, 2 days In-<br />
School-Suspension.)<br />
2. Running in the halls or building areas other than the gym. (Minimum<br />
Consequence-Warning/After School Detention)<br />
3. Loitering in the restrooms.(Minimum Consequence-No Pass Status)<br />
4. Throwing snowballs, bottles, cans or rocks on school grounds.( Minimum<br />
consequence- I.S.S. and cleaning grounds)<br />
5. Failure to follow instructions- minimum consequence 2 days I.S.S.<br />
<strong>SCHOOL</strong> SEARCHES<br />
The following items are subject to search as deemed necessary by the L.H.S.<br />
administration:<br />
any boxes, containers, bags, or the like brought on L.H.S. property<br />
cars parked on school property<br />
lockers (including P.E. lockers)<br />
personal items and clothing<br />
**Canine detective initiatives will be used on school grounds<br />
PENALTIES FOR UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIORS<br />
The penalties for unacceptable behaviors vary with the severity of the infractions,<br />
Division requirements, past disciplinary violations by the student, and the concern for<br />
helping the student learn to make more appropriate decisions. The following are<br />
disciplinary and corrective actions used in the school disciplinary program:<br />
1. Student Conference by teacher.<br />
2. Parent contact and conference with the teacher.<br />
3. Student conference with guidance and or the administration<br />
4. Parent conference with guidance and/or the administration and/or teachers.<br />
5. After School Detention.<br />
6. In-School Suspension.<br />
7. Suspension from participation of Extra-curricular Activities (Poor School<br />
Standing).<br />
8. Out of School Suspension.<br />
