Happy New Year
Our Broadcasters!
Extra Curricular Activities
ECA’s are now fully underway for the Spring Term and the children
are having lots of fun. There were several to choose from
this term and some running on
different days of the week too. New
introductions this term were Water
Polo for the older children as
well as Beginners Golf for Yr 1 & 2
among others. Michael Bakker
said “I like it when I can hit the
ball on the cones, Golf is Fun”.
Jesse Kurten said “I like Golf, it is
fun, I like hitting the ball’.
Spring Term
Welcome back to a new term, we’ve had a busy start to the year but the children seem excited to be back and
they are enthusiastic about learning! Remember that if you wish to discuss your child’s progress, teachers
have 2 slots after school on Mondays for parent appointments at 2.30pm and 2.45pm. Alternatively our Parent
-Teacher appointments for the Spring term will be conducted in the week beginning 24th March.
On 29th January, 6Do recorded a real live broadcast about Fair
Trade. Martus Chan and Fares Kishi both produced excellent broadcasts.
Our broadcasts were done to learn about writing a newspaper
article, to learn about Fair Trade, for fun and so that we could feel like
professionals. How did we feel? Fares will explain it, "The moment
when I sat down my heart was beating like a drum, and when Mrs Doig
raised the camera my eyes opened wide as I stared at the lens!" When
we watched the broadcasts some people closed their eyes and waited for
the humiliation to end. Some broadcasts were accidentally, embarrassingly,
recorded upside down!

Sheikh Zayed Museum
The Year 1s visited Sheikh Zayed Museum as part of their history
topic: Homes in the past. They enjoyed the tour around the Palace
and asked lots of interesting questions. They then sat in the big
Arabian tent to do observational drawings of different parts of the
palace. The tour guide at the Museum was so impressed with the
children’s prior knowledge of the UAE and Sheikh Zayed that she
let the children be their own tour guides!

Working with ADEC to promote best practice in Al Ain
Ms Nicki Williams being presented a certificate of appreciation
for working with ADEC to promote best practice
in Early Years with other private schools in Al Ain.
The Principals and KG coordinators from other schools
came for a presentation about Early Years Education in
AAESS, followed by the opportunity to see all the great
teaching and learning going on in classes. Well done Mrs
Charlene van Wyk and her team for all their great work.

We are very proud of our AAESS football team for how well they played against other private schools in Al Ain. Congratulations

Environmental Day is on 4th February—bring
in as many aluminium cans as you can to
win a competition! Everyone needs to wear
green along with their uniform to promote
environmental awreness!
Triathlon
Congratulations to all the
triathlon competitors for
participating in the triathlon!
It was great to see so
many children, parents and
staff involved in such a
great sporting activity.
Well done to the PE department
in AAESS for
planning such a well organised
event.
