Feeding our Teen ACTS Retreatants August 8th
Thanks to the following Brother Knights for
preparing lunch for the ACTS teen retreatants on
August 8th: Danny Berend, Gary Christopherson,
Ken Feigle, Gary Graff, Jim Hawk, David
Mayfield, Dan Pajak, Leo Hogard, Roy Sanchez,
and Tim Schoendorf. We fed about 65 teens and
ACTS staff at Camp Copass, who enthusiastically
showed their appreciation.
Spring Ric Hoff Memorial Golf Tourney

next Spring, scheduled to
be held again at Lantana
country club on March 2nd, 2011. Co-chairmen

Grand Knight’s Corner
Dear Brother Knights:
Fall is already upon us, gentlemen,
and for council that means an
exciting and event filled time of the
year. There will be a variety of opportunities for all
of us to get together whether its good works, raising
money for our charities, corporate communion, or
gathering our families together for events like the
fall family picnic or Christmas Party.
The council has and will continue to be a leader
in the Parish in its support of Pro-life activities here
at home and other events throughout the diocese.
On a local level we will, continue to assist the Loreto
House, support our local Catholic radio KATH 910,
Expand the Giant Rosary to follow each of the morning
masses on the third Sunday of the month. On a
diocesan level we will again be convoying down to
Ft. Worth to support the 40 days for Life and many
other activities that we will keep you updated on.
The council has through the Good Works Fund,
Ric Hoff Scholarship fund, Benevolent, Seminarian,
and Charities funds, been able to provide thousands
of dollars in financial assistance locally and across
the United States.
To continue these efforts we as a council must
continue to grow in size but most importantly in
participation by our members. The burden of many
should not be carried by a few. When a call goes out
for volunteers, its easy to blow it off with excuses of
why we can’t help, been there done that myself, but
we offer enough opportunities that there is spot for
you to help, no matter how small, we can always
use the HELP!
I would like to personally invite everyone to come
to our general council meeting which is the second
Thursday of the month with a meal at 6:30 and meeting
at 7:30. We have grown to over 260 members
and I have not met but a handful of my brothers in
this council. So I hope you will accept my invitation
and come out to our next meeting on October 7th.

A big thanks to Don Paddack, Bill
Grubbs, Dan Pajak, Dan Greico,
Sean Stenovich, Jim Hawk, Danny
Reid, Gary Graff, Ben Luke, Joe Davis and
Wayne Wilson for coming out, braving the August
heat, and helping us raise $202 for our seminarians.
The next Burritos project is on Sunday, October
15th. We meet at 8:00 AM.
Cans for our Seminarians
Cans thrown away in the Denton collection sure
doesn’t help our collecting cans to support our
Seminarians program. We need more Knights saving
cans for us. We can do a lot better than we are
with a little more effort to SAVE THOSE CANS for
the Knights.
Update--------total pounds---2789 and total value
$1,591.00 Thank You. The next aluminum can drive
will be October 17th.
Blood Drive
A big THANK YOU to all who donated
blood in August, making it the most
successful drive that I can remember.
We had 46 people attempted to donate
and we drew 43 pints of blood and 1 double red
donation which is also a first. Enjoy the blue bell
you deserve it! This was the first blood drive we
have had where we could donate double reds.
We will continue to grow the drive to be even more
successful.
If one teaspoon of blood can save the life of a
premature baby just think how much good you were
able to do with your donation. We will have the next
drive in about 8 weeks look for the announcement in
your email and at the next council meeting. Giving
blood saves lives; it’s that simple!!!

40 Days of Life
The Saint Mark Knights of Columbus has been assigned
Saturdays between 3:00 and 5:00 at the Planned
Parenthood Clinic in Fort Worth all Parishioners are
invited to come at this time and pray with others from
Saint Mark
All Parishioners are invited to come during this time
slot. If you like, you can meet in the Saint Mark Parking
Lot at 1:45 to carpool/caravan down together. One of the
true benefits is the ride down and back with your fellow
Parishioners. It is a tremendous opportunity to get to
know each other better and to grow stronger in our Pro
Life commitment.
Of course we are free to go anytime, as a group or
as individuals; 40 Days is 7days per week, 24 hours a
day of prayer, so stop in anytime possible, your presence
is always welcome. Whenever possible stop at
the Dallas or Fort Worth sites to pray for the Victory of
the Culture of Life!
We encourage all of you with contacts in other Parish
organizations to invite them to join us at the Fort Worth
site. If it is a group that may need help with transportation
there and back, we will work to get drivers to accommodate
them.
Please send me a reply note if you are going down
this weekend. This is a family program, bring hubbies,
wives, kids, neighbors or anyone that would like to pray
to end Abortion. All those on the Retreat Weekend are
invited next week and all weekends after that until 10-31!

Bob Layne is back home, after spending a couple
weeks at a rehab hospital. He’s still weak, is having
visits from nurses as well as physical and occupational
therapists. Please keep Bob in your prayers.
Chuck Quinn is home and receiving chemotherapy,
while helping his wife, Norma, convalesce.
Please keep the Quinns in your prayers.

Brother Harold Krist
passed away on August 24th,
after a long and courageous
battle with pancreatic cancer.
He was afforded full services
by the Fourth Degree honor
guard at his funeral on August
30th.

Youth Director
Welcome to a new year and bright future, as this
is my first article I wanted to introduce myself. I am
a founding member of a council in Dallas, Tx and
proud to be a member of St. Mark Council.
I joined the Knights when I was 18 years old,
that means I have been a Knight all of my adult life.
I want to share my history with you because it is
what makes me want to take on this challenge this
year. We will still try to focus on the activities that
have been helpful to the order in years past; with
your help, brothers, we can meet the challenges in
front of us. When we have the next recruiting drive
I believe that it will be our very best yet. This should
be the first focus of my new duties with the council.
Second will to be to engage with the St. Mark’s
youth group for multiple service opportunities. I will
report on my progress on these first two items next
month. Third I will work with my Co-director on the
free throw championship. We will report on that
progress together.

Upcoming Charity Street Collection Wilmer Fajardo Visits Council
Charity---the first principle of our order, was it
the reason you joined the Knights? Is it the reason
you are a member today? Are you a worker in any
of our council’s charity programs? Yes or no, here
is what you should do, work a shift during our after
Thanksgiving charity street collection on November
26-27th.
This is our most important annual project. It helps
so many people that need help. It is what I call new
money. Money from other people—not money from
parishioners or the Knights. Also, it is the most productive
per hour time spent on any of our projects.
Last year the average income per worker per shift
was a little over $250.00. That means that each of
my brother Knights that work a shift this year should
collect approximately $250.00 toward the $10,000
that we want to reach this year. So you see, we need
40 or 50 to work the street the Friday and Saturday
after Thanksgiving. This is an all council project—not
just a few of you.
Brother Knights, do not ignore my asking each
of you to work a shift. You will be proud of yourself
and the council for this charitable work. Going out
of town or unable to physically work the street, fine,
you have a choice either write a check for $250.00
or recruit a brother Knight to work in your place.
Please inform me of anyone you recruit so I can
assign them a time slot on Friday or Saturday.
Included in this newsletter are the participation
forms required by the Denton police department.

This is your chance to be an active, productive
member of this council. Please don’t let it pass, don’t
turn your back on this most important and needed
project. I know my brother Knights will answer this
call for help, as you always have.
