Mission and Vision Mission statement Vision The Vice-Presidency for International Affairs (VPRI) facilitates and develops the international mission of EPFL (and of the ETH Domain). It provides support to the EPFL members. The Vice-Presidency is the promoter of the international educational experience and of international academic “intelligence” for the EPFL community. This unit is a key contributor to the globalization process of the EPFL and its growing reputation as a major international educational and research institution. The Vice-Presidency’s core missions are: to identify international centers of academic excellence (crucial academic information gathering, identification of best practices, early detection) and develop appropriate partnerships; to offer EPFL students opportunities to study abroad in leading universities; to attract the best students worldwide; to design and promote selected global/offshore activities. The Office for International Affairs enhances EPFL’s visibility as an institution of international renown by developing activities such as: active networking with key universities; efficient positioning of EPFL in first-rate international university associations; reaching out to the alumni, EU and EHEA 5 communities to promote international themes and to strengthen the international components of the curricula, research and student/faculty activities (doctoral programs included). 5 European Union and European High Education Area (EHEA). Role The Vice-Presidency is the organizational link between all EPFL Programs that have international components. The whole team regards itself as: a promoting, coordinating and moderating actor in international relations, responsible for assuring the continuity of the policies and activities of EPFL’s international affairs; a service provider for scholars and academics, for local and international students and for EPFL staff. The Vice-President for International Affairs, a member of the EPFL Senior Management Team, is responsible for handling and implementing policy issues and for the further development of the university’s internationalization strategy.
