<strong>Composition</strong> <strong>Exercise</strong> 1: <strong>Framing</strong><br />
Cinematography, much like photography, involves the creative use of<br />
framing. Your task is to plan and photograph interesting and effective<br />
shots to demonstrate each of the 8 framing principles discussed in class.<br />
Process:<br />
- In your groups, search the school for interesting locations, objects, or<br />
backgrounds for your photographs.<br />
-You may combine principles, but should have a minimum of 5 shots.<br />
- Plan and sketch each shot carefully, using your storyboard frames. Under<br />
each frame, briefly describe the shot and the principle it is using.<br />
- Using a digital camera, photograph each shot as you have planned it.<br />
- Insert your shots into a PowerPoint document (1 slide per shot).<br />
- Under each shot, identify the principle.<br />
