Happy Easter - Order of Carmelites, India

The dream sprouted in the minds of the Sunkeswary
People is blossomed. The new church
in Sunkeswary is blessed by Most Rev. Dr. Poola
Anthony, Bishop of Kurnool and opened by Very
Rev. Fr. Mathew Neendoor O. Carm., Prior Provincial,
Order of Carmelites, India on 30th December
2012.
Kosigi-Sunkeswari Parish is an interior and remote
village consists of 11 sub-stations. There are
110 catholic families in Sunkeswari proper and
around 720 catholic families in the out skirts. The
parish church is dedicated to Our Lady of Mount
Carmel.
On 3rd November, 2007, Kurnool Diocesan Administrator
Rev. Msgr. A Chowrappa, had broken
the ground for laying the foundation for building

the parish church at Sunkeswari. The old Chapel
was built in 1950’s for 12 families and the catholic
community has increased to 110 families
and the chapel became too small for the present
community. So the late beloved Bishop Gorantla
Johannes proposed the construction of a new
church on July 16th 2006 to the Villagers.
Thus Rev. Fr. Sunny Thurithypilliyil O. Carm. had
started the construction which was continued by
Rev. Fr. Jijo O. Carm. and completed in the leadership
of Rev. Fr. Regi Jacob O. Carm. The hard
work and bold initiation of Rev. Sunny is ever
remembered as he dedicated him for the development
of the Mission in Andhra and its Fr. Jijo
who directed the work towards the completing
process. The timely intervention, both financially
and spiritually, of Rev. Fr. Sunny Kodiyan O.
Carm. and all the O. Carm. fathers especially who
dedicated their services in Germany is never forgettable.
It is a real moment to thank Rev. Fr. George
O. Carm., Mission director, Rev. Fr. Thomas O.
Carm., Principal of Mt. Carmel School, Rev. Fr.
Dominic, Rev. Fr. Johnson, Rev. Fr. Sebastian,
Rev. Fr. Sudheesh, O. Carm. Brothers, SABS Sisters
and all the fathers, sisters and brothers who
blessed us with their esteemed presence.
