Optical instruments have been a Seiler family tradition since 1913 when company founder Eric. H.<br />
Seiler entered the Zeiss-Jena School of Fine Optics in Jena, Germany. With a Master’s degree in Fine<br />
Optics, Eric H. Seiler brought his craft to the United States where he and his wife, Dora L. Seiler, started<br />
Seiler Instrument and Manufacturing Company in 1945. His appreciation of fine craftsmanship and<br />
pride in his work contributed toward a philosophy aimed at quality and customer service, a legacy he<br />
passed on to his son, current president, Eric P. Seiler.<br />
With Eric P. Seiler’s business management skills and his father’s extensive knowledge of optics, the<br />
company flourished and outgrew its original downtown St. Louis office. Seiler is now located in a<br />
suburban plant especially designed for optical instrument production. Today, a third generation has<br />
joined the company, sons Rick and Tom Seiler, whose management and sales skills contribute toward<br />
Seiler’s growth and success.<br />
Seiler believes a company is only as good as its people. That is why the company hires only experts in<br />
making precision optics and conducts on-going, in-house educational programs to make sure they stay<br />
