ELIGIBILITY<br />
• This is not a pre-payment series.<br />
There are no fees payable to be eligible.<br />
• Open to all 2YO Pacers and Trotters that are passed from the<br />
mobile start by Stipendiary Stewards and/or qualified as per the<br />
qualifying regulations.<br />
• Open to all 3YO and 4YO Pacers and Trotters that are qualified as<br />
per the qualifying regulations.<br />
DISTANCE<br />
All races to be from the mobile start over one mile.<br />
BARRIER DRAW<br />
All races will have a random barrier draw.<br />
NUMBER OF STARTERS<br />
A maximum of 12 starters will contest these races. Up to two ballots<br />
may be selected.<br />
STAKES DISTRIBUTION<br />
All Pacing events<br />
will be for $200,000<br />
1 st $100,000<br />
2 nd $30,000<br />
3 rd $20,000<br />
4 th $10,000<br />
5 th – 12 th $5,000<br />
ACCEPTANCE FEES<br />
There is no acceptance fee.<br />
LATE ENTRY<br />
There is no late entry clause.<br />
$1.5M HARNESS JEWELS<br />
The inaugural $1.5 million Harness Jewels, in association with<br />
the Century Foundation, is to take place at Ashburton Raceway<br />
on Saturday 2 June 2007 (Queens Birthday Weekend).<br />
The unprecedented series will consist of nine one-mile races, with<br />
six pacing races offering $200,000 in stakes and three trotting<br />
races with a $100,000 purse. Qualifying criteria for the Harness<br />
Jewels will be based on stake earnings in New Zealand between 1<br />
August 2006 and 21 May 2007, with the top 12 earners in each<br />
category winning a start. The series caters for two, three and fouryear-old<br />
pacers and trotters.<br />
All Trotting events<br />
will be for $100,000<br />
1 st $50,000<br />
2 nd $15,000<br />
3 rd $10,000<br />
4 th $5,000<br />
5 th – 12 th $2,500<br />
FIELD SELECTION<br />
The fields will be determined in the following order as at Monday, 21<br />
May 2007.<br />
1. In order of the highest stake earnings based on the following<br />
criteria:<br />
(a) All earnings (including handicapping exempt earnings)<br />
for the 2006/07 season up to and including<br />
21 May 2007 in New Zealand only for placings<br />
1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th only.<br />
(b) All Sales Series stake earnings are excluded.<br />
(c) All other Series stakes eg Sires Stakes are included.<br />
(d) All stake bonuses eg Harness Plus, incentive bonuses, etc<br />
are excluded.<br />
2. In the event of two or more horses having equal earnings,<br />
the following criteria shall apply:<br />
Firstly (a) Most number of wins (including handicapping exempt<br />
wins) in the 2006/07 season up to and<br />
including 21 May 2007 in New Zealand only.<br />
Then (b) Most number of 2 nd placings in the 2006/07 season<br />
up to and including 21 May 2007 in New Zealand only.<br />
Then (c) Most number of 3 rd placings in the 2006/07 season<br />
up to and including 21 May 2007 in New Zealand only.<br />
Then (d) Most number of 4 th placings in the 2006/07 season<br />
up to and including 21 May 2007 in New Zealand only.<br />
Then (e) In the event that two or more horses are still on equal<br />
selection criteria, the Harness Racing New Zealand<br />
Handicapper shall select one by ballot under the<br />
supervision of a Racecourse Inspector.<br />
DECLARATION OF ORDER OF ENTRY<br />
On 21 May 2007 the 12 highest earners based on the field selection<br />
criteria stated above will be declared. A further eight (next highest<br />
earners based on the field selection criteria stated above) will be<br />
declared right of re-entries.<br />
The connections of these horses will be contacted and be required to<br />
confirm in writing their acceptance of their place in the field by Friday,<br />
25 May 2007 at noon.<br />
Should more than the above 20 horses be required as a result of<br />
withdrawals or non acceptance, the next entrants will be determined as<br />
per the selection criteria stated above.<br />
All horses will be deemed to be nominated on confirmation of their<br />
acceptance to start.<br />

MATTERS ARISING<br />
Should any matter arise not covered by the race conditions or any<br />
dispute arise regarding the interpretation of the race conditions, the<br />
Chairman of Harness Racing New Zealand Inc shall act as sole judge.
