If your are going to college next fall<br />

Have an idea where you want to go –plan visits and/or interviews<br />

Find out the requirements of the college<br />

Know when the college admission deadlines are and have everything required completed on time<br />

Start early on essays for admission to allow time for revisions<br />

Type applications or print neatly using black or blue-black ink pen<br />

Recommendations/References from Counselor or Teachers<br />

Recommendations/references may be needed for colleges or scholarships<br />

Make sure to request a recommendation/reference at least 3 weeks before you need it<br />

Give counselor or teacher a resume about you and your experience<br />

Provide an addressed and stamped envelope along with the appropriate forms<br />

After January 1 st , apply online at www.fafsa.ed.gov<br />

HOPE Lottery Scholarship<br />

$4,000 for 4 year accredited Tennessee college/university<br />

$2,000 for 2 year accredited Tennessee college (ex. Northeast State or Walters State)<br />

3.0 GPA or 21 ACT or 980 (math and verbal) SAT<br />

The GPA used for the HOPE is your unweighted GPA
