Newsletter
An important
reminder to
all parents.
Students who are not in
morning daycare may
only arrive at school and
be in the school yard as
of 8:45am when teacher
supervision begins. Prior
to that time
non-daycare students
may not be in the
school yard.
On April 23 rd grads Brandon Ferreira
Andrade and Taylor Osborne represented
St. Anthony School as ambassadors at
the Montreal Impacts home opener.
Despite the weather being not too warm
they had a great
time. Thank you for
representing our
school so proudly.
Anthony and Benjamin Gracioppo continue
to do their fundraising for their walk for
Autism in June. On April 22 nd they raised
$193
with their
lemonade stand.
Well done boys.
Thank you for your
generous food donations
prior to Easter and
Passover. The West
Island Mission came
by this week to pick it
up, and they were very
appreciative. Thank you
also to Evan Lobo and
Justin Makhlouf who
were on hand to help
load up
the car.
A Royally Delicious Breakfast
Mrs. Showers and Ms. Diggle organized our
Royal Wedding Breakfast for the staff. The
staff came in for 5am to watch the wedding
with their fancy hats on.
Bacon and eggs, crumpets, croissants, and
quiche were served. It was a wonderful
morning, and a number of us wearing our
hats proceeded outside to welcome the
students at 8:45am.
Enfant Vedette continues in the
Kindergarten classes. Students had an
out, and had a wonderful
time.
Michael Couture was the winner of a gift basket
number of our students attended the evening
presentation for graduates called
they go to high school.
Students who filled out the survey at the end
of the presentation had a chance to win a
prize, and Michael was the lucky winner.
I Love to Read Week was a
big success once again this
year. There were numerous
events throughout the week
including an assembly, visits by
two authors and our Read-othon.
Our goal of reading 3,000
books not only was met but
surpassed, we read 4,060 books!

learned about the great oceans
around the world, each marked
on the world map which can be found in the reading pit.
Our Read-o-thon raised $4,340 for our third school, and

providing an alternative and sustainable income for families
whose children will be going to school in Makeni,
Sierra Leone. The French book fair was well attended,
and I would like to remind you that the English book
fair will take place May 5 th . More information will be
forthcoming. I would like to thank the staff and parent
volunteers
for all their
hard work
and effort in
making the
week so
successful.
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Striving for excellence
Spring can be tough when
the rainy weather keeps
you inside for most of the

outside to exercise your
body, this fun play dough
activity is a great way to exercise your mind! This
all natural dough recipe is super easy to make
and works great.
3 cups flour
1 ½ cups salt
6 tsp. cream of tarter
3 tbsp. oil
3 cups water
Put all of the ingredients in a pot and stir
constantly over medium heat. Once it forms a
ball, take it out and knead once it cools. Add
food coloring and knead some more until it's the
right doughy consistency. Store the play dough in
plastic bags or containers. Now you have a
couple of months' worth of creative play.
Ms. Carroll and Mme. Thomas,
along with the Free
the Children Youth Committee
have been creating
beautiful jewellery as a fundraiser for Sierra
Leone. They also applied for an
Entrepreneurial grant and have been chosen
to display their work at the school board on
Wednesday, June 8 th as they are the local
winners within the Montréal/Montérégie
region. You can find the You Tube link of
their video which will be shown in Québec
City for the regional awards gala.
Our Free the Children assembly was held on
Wednesday, April 20 th . Two representatives, Melanie
and Jimmy, from the Free the Children Montreal office,
came to share with our students the importance of
clean drinking water for Makeni, Sierra Leone. A
PowerPoint presentation was shown which included a
video clip with Craig Kielburger explaining the opening
of a well. The St. Anthony Free the Children Youth
Committee presented their video, which can be viewed
on our website. The representatives were also presented
with a cheque for $4,144. We have now raised
enough funds to provide clean water and sanitation for
our three schools in Sierra Leone. The assembly
concluded with our rendition
of the Waka Waka song. One
of our grade 1 students, Liam,
was so touched by this
assembly that he brought in
his piggy bank the following
day and donated its contents
to our cause, saying

your donation of $12.48 and
especially your thoughtfulness.
